Plinius SA100 MKIII/P-8 vs. Belles/McCormack SS?
I own the Plinius SA-100MkIII and it's a lovely amp. It has a tube-like character but still possess ample slam and dynamics for musical swings if needed. However, care need to be taken into consideration when it comes to matching. I find my previo...
What is the best amp for Sonus Faber Cremonas?
Old thread but missed it previously. I had similiar experience with Audphile1. In my opinion, Sonus Faber lower models(Cremona and below) have a dark character and the highs are rolled-off. My previous Grand Piano speakers sounded exactly as what ...
Bel Canto Dac 3
Kevziek,In your earlier post, you have mentioned you preferred the Benchmark DAC-1 over the Bel Canto DAC2. How would you compare the Benchmark with the Bel Canto DAC3? How do you characterize the sonics of the Bel Canto DAC3? I am leaning more to...
Best way to clean CD player lens?
I have owned the Sony XA7ES where the lens is fixed to the tray and hence it's accessible when the tray slides out. Whenever the player starts to exhibit serious skipping problems on certain CD's, I've used a dry cotton bud to clean the lens. This...
Speaker stand design - Is this a good idea?
Interesting post as this is the first of its kind I've ever read about creating a little 'fence' around the top plate of speaker stands. For what it's worth, no matter what kind of flooring, any bookshelves will be susceptible to damage if they to...

Bryston owners: What speakers are you using?
I see this is an old thread. I don't own these amps but have listened to them and have friends who own them. PMC speakers sound best driven by Bryston amps. Go to PMC or Bryston website and you would notice. I have also heard successful partnershi...
onkyo vs. Marantz A/V recievers which better?
I would choose Denon 3806 over the rest although Yamaha and Marantz are equally good. Onkyo and Harman Kardon are my least preferred out of the pack.
Transport - does it matter to the sound at all?
Pardon my ignorance. If the only difference between a good transport and bad transport is jitter, does that mean the best and most expensive transport will have an extremely low jitter? IF jitter is the sole parameter in affecting the sound qualit...
My Jolida 100 skips even on new cds. How to fix?
Not familiar with Jolida players but once my Sony XA7ES starts to exhibit skipping problems, I used a dry cotton bud to clean the lens. The lens is fixed to the tray as it slides out, so there is no need to open the lid of the player. Worth a try.
Pairing Plinius 9200 pre-amp w/ Nuforce Ref 9 amps
Sorry, I totally missed out your last post. Glad you have found new enjoyment in your E5.
Pairing Plinius 9200 pre-amp w/ Nuforce Ref 9 amps
Hi, Not to hijack this thread. I believe you have a great unit in the Plinius 9200 and the quality is much higher than the rest of you components. Not exactly sure what you're trying to achieve in pairing it with Nuforce amps but I believe it woul...
Need some advice on replacing a B&W tweeter
I would do the same as Thorman if I've got a dent. Having said that, if the dent is real serious I *may* get it replaced even though it sounds perfectly normal. Availability of parts and cost of replacement would then dictate my decision. By the w...
A mistake spending too much on amplification?
Not sure this is relevant, but I'm driving $1,400.00 monitor speakers with $11,000.00 worth of amp/pre-amp. Oh yeah, and $3,450.00 in wires. The system sounds superb and even though the speakers were supposed to be interim after selling my Harbeth...
Best integrated for B&W 704 and Rega Apollo
A 4th vote for the Classe CAP-151. I had the older CAP-100 before driving B&W's and the sound fit what you've described -glorious mids and very tube-like with ample bass slam. I can just imagine the CAP-151 driving the 704's with more ease and...
