Tidal vs Quobuz
dadork:  disagree with your assessment re.  Qobuz.  Not only do I constantly find that albums are missing  sometimes I can't find anything from a particular artist.  To be fair, I experienced a similar problem with Tidal although less so.
For auld lang syne, ..high-end companies you really liked that are gone....
Nestorovic labs.
Best "Bang for the Buck" you have owned?
Conrad Johnson PFR preamp.  Stax lambda headphones gets an honorable mention.
With the Holidays, what are your favorite films for the season?.........
Assuming Thanksgiving is included, Planes, Trains, and Automobiles hands down.  Millercarbon:  the dynamic between Roger Ebert and Gene Siskel will never be repeated, I'm afraid.  It was something to behold when they went at eachother.  The irony ...
My "audiophile" weakness(es)...ie: how the item looks, and you?.
Whatjd there is no reason to apologize for loving beautiful things.  We all do it.  I still get weak in the knees when I look at a Hovland Preamp (and I,m not a tube guy).  Aesthetics do matter as much as we'd like not to admit it.
Ayre KX-5/20 & VX-5/20 v AX-5 Twenty
I don't have the exact same combo (I have an V-5xe and K-5xemp) and inquired directly to Ayre about making the switch t0 an AX-5 twenty (my concern was whether this was more or less a lateral switch).  They felt that the AX-5 twenty was definitely...
Really need a fiber connection but.....
TAS had a recent article on different configurations using optical.  Pretty interesting stuff.  One option was to use an FMC (fiber media converter).  the converters seem relatively inexpensive so I'm interested in giving it a try.  Has anyone tri...
Very best sounding Vinyl
I would recommend old mfsl vinyl, preferably mastered by Stan Ricker.
Best bourbon?
Blantons (hard to find in mass.)wild turkey Kentucky spiritwoodford reserve double oaknoah's mill ( a little hard to get past the burn though)
Vitus versus Gryphon
supermerio:  are you running the Vitus in A or A/B mode?  I've heard that the Vitus loses some of it's magic in A/B.  If there is a Vitus dealer out there I'm curious if the RI-101 is better than the SIA-025 or SIA-03 if you have to run the latter...
Audio reviews: too many analogies, never simple, but most of all, never clear.
Tee jay:. Can I ask you a question? Why is it that the vast majority of reviewers use classical music as the basis of reviews? Is it really that essential? Is this representative of their subscribers?  if you're going to go that route why just lis...

couldn't agree more with millercarbon and hiendmmoe.  The reviewers are often self-indulgent to a fault (similar to the media where now they,re the news rather than what they're reporting).  I subscribe to the two mainstream audiophile publication...
Quicksilver amp owners
My observations are based on the 8417 model which I would characterize as smooth and muted on the top (this was, at least representative of listening sessions between intervals when the amps would blow-up, LOL).  Suited for classical music lovers ...
Conrad Johnson preamp: ET5, ET7 (series 1 or 2) or ET3SE ??
clearthink:  keepin' it real!  way to go!  there is some truth to what you are saying.  The PV-5 I had (used with quicksilver mono's) was caramel placed on top of maple sugar.  It was exactly as you describe.  The PFR however was a different anima...
Audiomods Tonearm.....
Currently, the 6 is going for just over $1200 USD if my math is correct which from the sounds of it is an insane buy.  The only reason I haven't pulled the trigger yet is that I'm unsure how good a cartridge I can use with it.   Is it good enough ...
