I have two listening modes. Critical listening and evaluation while working on system synergy. Then I switch that off and go into music listen mode. Practice often and you will be happier.
Buy new or repair? Budget $600 ish, existing Nakamichi RE-1
I could not decipher what your system hookups are but I guess they are far from the best way to connect your gear. Just because it works doesn't mean it's the best way to do it. I would not spend any money on 40 year old gear unless it was somethi...
How do you find time to enjoy your $$$ speakers and system?
One of my systems is a CD player, a tuner, an integrated amp, and a pair of loudspeakers. It's easy to click on and I try to run it as much as possible.
Does Hearing Loss Disqualify Me from Audiophiledom?

.....all electrostatics are planars I'm not sure I would call the Martin-Logan curved electrostatic panels a planar loudspeaker. I would call it a panel loudspeaker, though. A plane is flat...

Off the wall answer: Get a good sound bar for your TV until you get enough budget. Edit: Or start anywhere and enjoy, you'll know where to go after that.
Buzz from mouse in speaker
Computers are noisy. Get all computers as far away from sound reproduction gear as you can.
Tube tester?
Like a broken record, I keep on saying anyone with tube equipment should buy their own tube tester. I had a nice 666 Eico tester. I didn't use it much. I buy new production tubes from very reliable sources and I have only had one issue with a n...
Fee for home audition
Can you even imagine a guy selling a TV bringing it out to your home for a quick look?
Speaker recommendations wanted for Quicksilver M135 amplifiers
Move up the Triangle line. You are going to get near perfection.
Biamping
The only advantage with biamping with two of the same amp is having an additional seperate power supply. The other might be lifting big heavy amps but the A21+ is a VERY good sounding amp, you will not be disappointed. I ran mine with an Cary S...
