What's your favorite boutique speaker maker
Omega - I've had my Hemptones for about 15 years, and they still sing so wonderfully.
Update on Audiogon Member Almarg
Al. has always been the perfect gentleman (not to mention a valued source for his deep technical knowledge).  I don't recall him ever uttering a cross word or snarky comment. Every good wish to Al and his family.

signs that tubes need to be replaced

The plain ol' black Audioquest - - before and after playing each side.  I've been using this brush for over 15 years and have been very happy with the results.
Damn, what a joy to have good College FM stations.
david_ten - Internet tuners can sound quite fine, depending in part on kbps - but not as good as a strong analog FM signal played on a good FM tuner.  The best quality FM sound I've experienced was on KPFT in the late 90's/early 2000's - -like the...
Damn, what a joy to have good College FM stations.
If you don't own an FM tuner and/or live out of FM range from a good college radio, there's always an internet tuner and free standing internet radios.  I listen to several college stations in this manner. My favorite is WDCB, which broadcasts from...
Your favorite excellent quality/sounding LPs
For great sounding jazz LP's give the CTI label a try.  Creed Taylor's CTI recordings from the late 60's through the 70's offer great sound, indeed.
What do you think causes the crackle and clicks we hear?

What was the best vintage LP you have ever found and why was it so?
RCA LSC-2436 - Respighi:  Pines of Rome/Fountains of Rome - Chicago Symphony cond. by Solti.  I have a 1s/1s copy, which is exceedingly rare - Canfield's 2000 edition cites NM value at $750.00.I paid $10.00 for my copy which I found several years ...
