Rives PARC parametric equalizer
I have heard the PARC--obviously, in very high end systems. There are a few things that you might do to see what it could possibly do to the signal--we engineered these things in for just this purpose.First, the bypass is a true bypass. It goes of...
Audioengine speakers
My mistake. My comments were completely off. I was thinking of this speaker which is the "art engine"
Rives PARC parametric equalizer
Shadome--well stated. We have found on installing the PARC in systems where people have been used to the bass bloat for some time, we have to reduce the attenuation on the notch filters as much as 50%. It's almost like we have to ween them off of ...
Cost no Object but Small Room
We have had interest from the previous dealer in Hong Kong. Unfortunately the prior ownership of Talon did not deliver product on a timely fashion to them, thus I believe they may be a bit gun shy and just waiting to see how things go with us. I c...
Cost no Object but Small Room
We did a room set up at RMAF with a pair of Talon Hawks and a Thunderbird subwoofer. The key was the integration with the Rives sub-PARC. The room received a Positive Feedback Oasis award for great sound. I'm more than a little particular about so...
How to merge two hard drives into one on iTunes?
My library was once damaged. I deleted it and rescanned the drive with itunes and all was fine. Using that logic you could simply copy your files from the 2 drives to the one larger drive and then scan with itunes.

Is there such a thing as audiophile parametric eq?
I agree with the notion that no eq is the best eq. Even though we sell the PARC I'ld rather have a room that didn't need it, but that's not always possible If you need an eq, it's far better to add that into the circuit than let the room dictate w...
Is there such a thing as audiophile parametric eq?
Shadome: We measure with a continuous sweep, so it's not averaged at a specific octave. However, we do have a psycho-acoustical response filter that integrates much like the human ear. Lower octaves are integrated with larger intervals than higher...
Acoustic Sound Treatment
Diffision is live. It does not deaden the sound but rather diffuses or redirects it. Diffusion or passive resonance behind the main speakers is most effective in most rooms. I absorption or a combination of absorption and diffusion behind the list...
Is there such a thing as audiophile parametric eq?
Restock--yes the physics are surprising, and I'm a physicist, but if you look at the results individually of what's then averaged it makes sense. The averaging becomes a mask of some of the biggest problems. Because the biggest model problems also...
Is there such a thing as audiophile parametric eq?
Restock: I do not have a reference, though I imagine that somewhere in the Harmon reference white papers it's there--just a matter of getting through them all. It's pretty common knowledge amoung acousticians regarding the phase shift. As to the a...
Acoustic Sound Treatment
The principles of LEDE were begun in the 60s for recording studios. These were dead behind the speakers and live behind the listener. Mimicking an inversion of the recording process (i.e. performers on a live stage and microphones that were dead b...

Acoustic Sound Treatment
50% of the sound you hear is indirect, bouncing off walls, ceiling, floor etc. So it is often said that the room is 50% of the sound. You also have major issues with alteration of sound based on room gain at various frequencies, most often bass, b...
