What s in front of your chair?
Don't worry about it. You won't hear a difference. Just buy a good comfortable scandanavian recliner and matching ottoman and sit back and enjoy.
Survey-What is your most used source?
Definitely the cd player, Phx AZ has the worst radio stations, lousy music and too many commercials. I used my tuner quite a bit in the past but not hardly at all these days.
Extension Cord
I built a four outlet box for my p300 using a short 18 inch 12 gauge power cord and soldered all the internal connections. It works very well, no difference in sound compared to plugged directly into the p300 outlet. All you need is available from...
Speaker Fetish
Yeah, I'm with you. I need a larger house with multiple rooms just to have a chance to listen to all the stuff sitting in closets that is great but don't get to listen to all the time. I have a set of Green Mountain Diamantes in the closet that I ...
Cary Cabling
It's all about synergy. Sometimes the cheapest stuff works the best. I use radio shack four strand 16 gauge to the speakers and the stock Sony cable from the cd player. I have tried the up-grades that I use on my big rig system and the Cary likes ...
B W 801II vs. which Nautilus speaker?
I have auditioned the N803's and N802's versus the older 801's and the N802 or N801 would be the speakers for you to listen to. The 803's will sound less powerful in the bass. The 802's are the best looking and provide the best overall balance.
Grouding for dedicatied lines?
The ground point for my house is a clamp around the copper water pipe that enters the house. I found that paint had covered the pipe. I removed the clamp and sanded the pipe down to the copper and sanded the paint off the ground cable. With regard...
OK to hook up both RCA and XLR on amp?
The amp needs to have a toggle switch to select one input or the other not both at one time. I have used this type of setup for over two years with a Classe' CA300. I have not found any difference in sonics or noise levels with the un-used input s...
2 amps with same speakers NON-Biamp ??
Here is a slightly different set-up I use. One power amp that has switchable inputs for balanced or RCA which is a Classe' CA300 is hooked to two different pre-amps, one solid state and the othe tubed plus two cd players gives the flexibility to c...
Antique Sound Labs?
I just purchased an ASL MG Head-phone amp and it sounds great on Sennheiser HD600's, very quiet, no tube noise and deep rich bass. It doesn't sound like a Cary component and the build quality isn't to Cary standards, kinda like comparing a Chevy t...
Best Digital Cable for Karik Numerik?
The digital link is a 75 ohm BNC cable. I use the Tara Labs RSC Master 75 ohm BNC cable. I have tried various cables on the clock link and have found that only the stock Linn cable provides the correct sound. I use Nordost Blue Heaven on the analo...
CD Player Woes
I wouldn't bother fixing it. I have two Sony players, a 608es and x77es from 89 and 92 respectively. Both units are totally reliable. The 608es has over 6500 hrs on it and has not even needed a bulb. By contrast, my Linn Karik/Numeric combo has be...
To tube or not to tube...
I agree with Sagger, once you listen to good tubed gear it is impossible to go back, just don't forget that there is bad tube gear just like there is bad solid state gear. At least try the tube preamp. I use tubed preamp with solid state amp here ...
Where is the best place for amp s
This is an impossible answer. If you keep the speaker cable runs short then you have all of your gear stacked between the speakers which has its pitfalls. If the amp only sits inbetween for short speaker runs then you generally have long interconn...
Best integrated tube amp under 3K
The Cary SLI50 has the musical magic. The dynamics both macro and micro are always there in concert with the music. Bandwith does not seem limited as with a lot of tubed gear I have listened to. This amp sounds like it has more power than the rate...
