The majic of early 1970's rock and it's influence-
jdm61--very fascinating & observent comment! The pretentiousness would be welcome today in these every-man-for-himself times.
The majic of early 1970's rock and it's influence-
I think that music from that era is timeless & not just anillusion of the baby boomers. Music from Carole King, Carly Simon, Joni Mitchell, Stevie Wonder, Traffic, Tull, Elton John, Al Green, Three Dog Night, Blood Sweat & Tears, Steve Mil...
Feedback, please on new Electraglide Mini Khan Plus
No, I did not like the MiniKhan on the CDSD (I tried it finally to experiment). For some reason, the Kimbers worked best, making things smoother, if a trifle less detailed, but somehow very pleasing & clear. I actually have an Anaconda Alpha o...
Feedback, please on new Electraglide Mini Khan Plus
Tangentially here, I liked the supplied Kimber PK14 on the EMM CDSD, so I picked up a Kimber PK10 Palladium for it,and it works very well--more detailed, clearer, & deeper bass; fuller, more palpable midrange; smoother, more rounded vocals, an...
Feedback, please on new Electraglide Mini Khan Plus
I have 2 of these, one on my EMM DCC2 for a few months (using DAC & preamp functions) & another on a Stax 007t tubed headphone amp for 2 months. The Mini Khan Plus works very well on the DCC2: light & airy, but still smooth with good b...
Power cord for Accuphase DP-75v
Yep, the SLVR I think deserves the status of an audio "classic". Thanks Bob.
Headphone amps
I would definitely upgrade to Senn 650s--I did on the advice of some Headfi posts & found them to be a major improvement: a fuller but not overwhelming or forward sound. The 600s sounded thin to me. I use the newest version of the Headroom Max...
Sonus Faber Stradivari Homage?
Well, that may be true, but, for what it's worth, his review & continuing comments on the Kharma 3.2s (that I now happily own, partly based on his recommendation) were right on the money, so I respect his ears & writing talents. (Along wit...
Sonus Faber Stradivari Homage?
Note that Jonathan Valin, who wrote the cover story (a rave review) in the Absolute Sound for the Stradivaris followed up in the Jan 2005 issue that, overall, he prefers the Kharma 3.2CRMs, at about half the price.
Power cord for Accuphase DP-75v
I use Bob Crump's TG Audio SLVR on my 75V & I am happy with it. Smooth, relaxed, tight bass, removes abrasiveness/grain, removes unpleasant punchiness from lower midrange. It's a real bargain at about $500 new. Well made & flexible too. The...
Speaker cable length for L/R channels critical?
I would definitely have the 2 10-foot runs. At one time I had a similar unequal run of Cardas Cross to my Aerial 10ts & it always sounded funny & flat & I always had to move my chair around. I switched to equal lenghts of Cardas Golden...
lower priced power cords for emm labs CDSD/DCC2 ?
Saxman2, thanks!
lower priced power cords for emm labs CDSD/DCC2 ?
It was stated above that the Kimber power cable supplied with the EMM DCC2 & CDSD is a Kimber PK-14 Gold. On mine, the box says that this is the regular PK14, not the Gold version. Am I mistaken? Given that, any thoughts out there about upgrad...
Kharma 3.2 to MidiGrand Upgade???
Sirspeedy, thanks for the good comments. Yes, after a long day of listening at the 2004 Home Ent. show in NY, with rave-reviews posted everywhere & feeling like just about every speaker was an Emperor's New Clothes situation: too forced, tizzy...
Kharma 3.2 to MidiGrand Upgade???
I'll add my 2-cents about solid-state amps with 3.2s. I have an Edge NL12 driving them (& the Meitner DCC2/CDSD combo) with, to my ears, wonderfully compelling results. The bass & lower midrange areas that can sound punchy & pushy &...
