Speakers in rear with TV in front. Will it work?
Plato, The K-horns and Subwoofer are stacked six feet high with a seven and a half foot ceiling. Elizabeth, I do have an extra pair of Cornwall Speakers, with the same drivers as the K-horns, but without the K-horn bass. I could use the Cornwalls ...
Two-channel is inferior to multi-channel, no?
Go to the TacT Audio website and lookup Ambiophonics. With two speakers 30 degrees apart in front, and using their Ambiophonics processor to eliminate cross talk between channels, a smooth continuous image is created more than half way around the ...
Tact 2.2 XP: which configuration to get?
I noticed that in all of these responses that no one ever mentioned anything about TacT's Super DAC card option for the 2.2 XP. For an extra $370 over their standard DAC, this card uses the same chips as used in high end external DACs thus elimina...
Tubelike SS Power amp
Tvad: I have never owned a tube amp, but I was going to buy one until I heard the Pass XA amps. The advantage of the Pass amp is that it sounds like a tube amp (IMO), but without the hassle of dealing with tubes. Why did you switch from tube amps ...
Tubelike SS Power amp
Nelson Pass makes a great sounding pure class A amplifier series with the prefix of "XA" that sounds exactly like the best tube amplifiers, but are actually solid state. They sound like tube amplifiers due to the class A configuration. Warning... ...
Two mono center TV speakers out of phase?
Thanks for your comments. I still don't see why two mono speakers equal distant to the sweet spot using two identical amps will cause a problem. I'm using a 52 inch TV screen so I don't think that distance between the speakers should play a role. ...
Looking to get into tubes?
The Prima Luna is the best choice for this reason: Where are you going to send the Cayin for repairs? China? I don't know of any repair centers in the US that take care of Cayin equipment. But I could be wrong.
Looking to get into tubes?
This is food for thought. In this month's issue (192) of Absolute Sound magazine in the review of a Pass amp and preamp, Anthony Cordesman said "I have never been a believer in choosing one type of amplifier- tube or solid state, or Class A verus ...
Looking to get into tubes?
What makes tubes sound good are not the tubes, but rather the circuit. How many times have you heard that tubes sound sweeter, mellow, less bright, blooming, natural sound decay, etc.? What does that is the pure class A circuit for which tubes are...
TUBE AMPS-CARY, BAT or VTL
Don't get stuck in a rut about tubes. An article in this month's issue of Absolute Sound emphasizes the difference between amplifier class types and deempasizes the difference between tubes and SS. Tubes and SS recently have been getting closer in...
Why are most High End Amps class A
I also have a Mark Levinson amp that has that AB class sound. To me the push-pull method has it's advantages such as clarity, efficiency, and low distortion. I've had this amp for ten years and I have enjoyed every minute of it... until now. Reace...
what is the rule of thirds?
The 'Golden Ratio" rule is just as important along these lines of thought. The ratio is 1.6 : 1 which was discovered during the Greek times thousands of years ago. It can be used for room size propotions. For example if the room height is 8 feet, ...
Why are most High End Amps class A
Class A amps have finesse, ambience, subtlety, blossom and decay of sound that gives it a more realistic quality. However, they are the most expensive amps per watt, the hottest running, uses the most electricity per watt output, most tempermental...
Designer Hall of Fame
Has anyone mentioned Mark Levinson?
Designer Hall of Fame
02-19-09: PlutosNelson Pass from Pass Labs is clearly most notorious but it seems that none have mentioned Flemming E. Rasmussen - GryphonPlutos, I'm sure that this was a slip of the tongue, but I would not exactly say that Nelson Pass is notoriou...
