Apocalypse Now?—Technics sp10 problem s
This is a legendary table. I don't know anything about it, except that there are forums dedicated to this turntable. Google it's model number and see what comes up. You live in a major metropolitan area, and I'm sure that someone on one of those fo...
biwire trick
I must be a little sow today as I can't seem to wrap my head around this hook up scheme. Someone please try to straighten me out. If I am getting this right, this would leave the negative mid/bass post with no connector attached to it at all. Is t...
Amp Recommendation - Gershman Avant Garde
I had a friend who owned Avante Garde's and he drove them beautifully with a pair of Kora monoblocks, tube amps, from France. Incredible sound. I don't think Kora distributes into North America anymore but I do see used pairs come up for sale here...
Best speaker with Bryston 2BssT ?
You may end up being sorry, but that's the risk we audiophiles always take. If at all possible, and I know often it isn't, you should audition any prospective purchase in your own system first. Having said that Maggies are often paired with Bryston ...
how to maximize 2 channel theater sound??
Yes, that would be more than sufficient.
Audio Physic Scropio versus Dynaudio C1
There is a store in my area that carries both Audio Physic and Dynaudio, and at one time had both of these speakers in stock and on the floor in separate systems. These are two of my favourite speakers of all time, and although I could easily live...
Vandersteen 5 - Best amp and pre/pro under $3k ?
Well, I think for that budget any combo you do pick, if it is going to do those fine speakers justice, it will have to be used, and even then it's a tall task. Sorry if this isn't a lot of help.
You got to be ?& · Kidding me
Audio Note also uses this approach. I have heard a couple of their DAC's, an entry level one, and an upper middle end one and they sounded excellent, very natural. There is definitely something to this. I think what a lot of people may not underst...
Surround Processor-Programmable for No SubWoofer
Pretty much any modern pre/pro you can purchase today whether new or used will allow this hook up scheme. You don't have to program it, you simply go into the pre/pro's menu and disable the subwoofer in the speaker setup. This will automatically d...
DTS HD via Multi Analog vs DTS via Bistream
First, nothing wrong with using the PS3 as a Bluray player. It does an excellent job.Secondly, yes, you should hear a very large difference in sound quality. Standard Dolby Digital and DTS are multi-channel systems that utilize what is referred to...
Is it okay to talk around your speakers?
Wow, I thought I had heard everything, but that's a new one. I certainly don't think normal conversation of any volume would create enough movement of the drivers to cause any back EMF, especially without an electrical signal entering the cones.
Opinions on YG Carmels?
Are these speakers fully broken in?
The Best Polished Glass Toslink Optical Cables?
I think the two you have are generally considered the cream of the crop when it comes to Toslink. It's possible there is a small manufacturer somewhere that makes one that is better or comparable but I haven't heard of it.
AV Receiver good enough for high end audio?
THE BEST A/V RECEIVER I EVER HEARD, AND I'VE HEARD A LOT OF THEM UNFORTUNATELY, WAS THE LEXICON RV-8. IT WAS ESSENTIALLY THEIR SEVEN CHANNEL POWER AMP AND THE MC-8 PRE/PRO IN ONE CASE. I ACTUALLY GOT TO HEAR IT DIRECTLY AGAINST THOSE VERY SEPARATE...
The Wall: Roger Waters 2010
I attended the second of three shows that opened the tour in Toronto. Absolutely one of the best concerts I have ever been to. His use of projections is both unparalleled and unique throughout the show. He was also able to fix one of the major pro...
