Legacy audio Signature lll speakers.
Anyone who thinks the Legacy Sig IIIs are lacking, should check their associated equipment and room treatments. Properly set up, the Sig IIIs is an amazing speaker. One thing the speakers love are tube amps. If any of the naysayers are using, or h...
Audio Research Ref 110 - Ref 3 Cable Interconect
I'm using ARC's balanced interconnects between my CD-7 and Ref-3 with excellent results. I recently replaced my old custom power cords, which were much better than the stock ARC cords, for Magnan ribbon power cords. The improvement in transparancy...
Audio Research Ref: CD8
Wow! Excellent comments on the now broken-in CD8. Thanks. It doesn't surprise me at all that the break-in time is over 500 hours. My CD-7 took that long as did the Ref-3. The PH-7 didn't take as long ... but still a good 300 hours to sound it's bes...
Audio Research Ref: CD8
Microstrip ...So ... how's the CD-8 sounding now?
Audio Research CD7 owners help needed
Lak is correct. I had the same problem ... the tubes in the stock CD7 "drift" and need replacement. To my surprise, ARC sent the tubes free of charge. For the best results, send your player back to ARC for the "update." Its free of charge for origi...
Audio Research Ref: CD8
To continue ...I had two friends over to hear the upgraded CD-7. To say that I had to pry their jaws off of the carpet is an understatement. Both are very familiar with my system. One arrived late, and as he walked into the room and after hearing ...
Audio Research Ref: CD8
I just recieved my CD-7 back from ARC with the upgrade. Will was right on in his assessment. I only had time to listen to a few "cuts" before I had to leave, so anything I say here was with less than an hour on the player. Its operating on "repeat...
Audio Research REF-110 vs. HD-220
Thanks for the responses ... much appreciated.
Downsizing from Audio Research REF110 to 100.2
I wouldn't "downsize" at all. The REF 110 is a great amp, but if you want to go the SS route, what I would do is sell the REF-110 and buy a HD-220. Tons of power, great base and still the resolution and musicality of tubes that we all like ... and...
Difference between Audio Research PH3 and ref
I've had them all.1. The PH-3 sounds really good.2. The PH-3 SE sounds even better.3. The PH-5 makes the first two sound like transistor radios.4. The PH-7 Makes the PH-5 sound broken.
audio research sells out good or bad ?
To all the naysayers in this thread ... take it from me, the employees at ARC are totally dedicated people. The new "owner" is leaving them alone to continue producing that great ARC gear. The attitude of the new owner is (In an Italian accent): "...
ARC Ref 3: Tung-Sol 6550 in power supply?
I've read every post in this thread with interest. I have the Ref 3 in my audio system that replaced my SP-14. The system also includes a ARC CD-7 and a PH-7 phono stage. The addition of the Ref-3 brought my system to the best its ever sounded. I ...
Any experience with the Audio Research PH7?
I have just passed 500 hours on my PH-7. I moved up through the PH-3, PH-3SE and the PH-5. As great as the PH-5 was, the PH-7 makes all other before it sound broken.
Baby Koetsus? ie, Poor Mans Koetsu
Want a really good cheap cartridge? Try the $199. Benz. Give it the 40 hours of break-in that it requires, then sit back and enjoy the music. I picked mine up on the web for $173 including shipping. Gene Ruben offers them here on Audiogon for $199...
Audio Grade fuses
To the naysayers: Don't judge a product until you've tried it. The new ceramic fuses from Germany are a significant upgrade. The improvement is very similar to replacing your stock wall sockets to the after market high end wall sockets. We're not ...
