Interesting information from Analog Planet on Stylus Cleaner Onzow Zero Dust.
I must confess I'm more than a little disappointed we haven't seen or heard much in the way of substantive follow-up, lately, on this question from Mr. Fremer, WAM Engineering, Wally Tools, Onzow, DS Audio or whomever. Seems all the audiophile god...
Interesting information from Analog Planet on Stylus Cleaner Onzow Zero Dust.
Just thought I'd post this as a follow-up, for what it's worth. I got tired of waiting for people like Michael Fremer, WAM Engineering and J.R. Boisclair to do the obviously right thing under the circumstances (i.e. ask the manufacturers or makers...
Interesting information from Analog Planet on Stylus Cleaner Onzow Zero Dust.
Yes! This is certainly disconcerting news for those of us vinyl heads who never liked free-handing stylus brushes. Every time I did that, I channeled a special ops sniper holding his breathe before squeezing off a round! The Onzow and some of the ...
Recommend an Entry Level Turntable (And maybe an integrated Amp)
@klimt, save some coin in your budget for a few basic vinyl accessories (i.e. record brush; stylus cleaner; anti-static poly sleeves; record cleaner; VTF gauge; etc.). Records require a little TLC if you want the sound quality to be all it can be....
Have you ever been turned off by an Arrogant Dealer? Thoughts
Every audiophile who's been at it long enough has war stories to tell.  Here's one of mine: In the late 70's or early 80's, I happened to wander into a local high-end audio shop. It was a gorgeous sunny day in the middle of the week. I had the da...
Is advice from a constant upgrader to be avoided
@mid-fi-crisis, I haven't read this entire thread but I really like your question! In response, I would say it makes sense to read and consider what virtually every contributor has to offer on forums like this. Keep in mind, however, that every op...
Looking for a SS integrated Amplifier recommendation going into a new system
Just another 2 cent opinion. With those AMT tweeters and the dimensions of your sound room, I would recommend amplification that is a touch on the warm side, whether you go SS, tube or hybrid, especially if the sweet spot does not have any or much...
Best Integrated that you've heard under $5k
Haven’t heard many but of those I’ve done serious seat-time with, these are the ones I believe are worth every cent!McIntosh MA5200Musical Fidelity M6siSimaudio Moon NEO 340 IXLuxman (can't remember model number but competitor to the MAC MA5200, a...
Top 3 songs to evaluate a system
This is a very tough question! When I go out to do serious seat-time with equipment, I usually bring a list of several songs or pieces of music but virtually never listen to the entire piece(s). I generally listen to a minute or two of various par...
To clean or not to clean...
According to the real experts, there is no question! ALL vinyl records should be cleaned, even new ones. New records will have the residue of mold release compounds (old ones may, as well, if they've never been properly cleaned before) that should...
Krell K-300i (with its optional DAC) vs. McIntosh MA7200 (with DA1) vs. ? (including DAC)
@james633, NICE TOYS! Thanks for the feedback & guidance! Always  appreciated!Although my sound room (i.e. living room) is fairly good size (i.e. 14' X 23'), for reasons I won't bore you with here, I'm forced to contend with somewhat challengi...
Krell K-300i (with its optional DAC) vs. McIntosh MA7200 (with DA1) vs. ? (including DAC)
@bigtex22, yes; by all means, let us know how you make out with speaker placement after everything is seasoned or broken-in. That would certainly be useful information! I'd especially be interested in whether or not you felt the need to spike them...
Krell K-300i (with its optional DAC) vs. McIntosh MA7200 (with DA1) vs. ? (including DAC)
@yyzsantabarbara, thanks for that review! I had already read it. Your tip compelled me to read it again. Much appreciated!
Krell K-300i (with its optional DAC) vs. McIntosh MA7200 (with DA1) vs. ? (including DAC)
@verdantaudio, yes, that is certainly solid advice! I’m using the Marantz as a transport now with the MAC’s DA1 DAC (Pangea interconnects). What I’m finding is the DA1 might be just a hair "better" than the Marantz (e.g. tiny bit more bass extensi...
Bought a new McIntosh amp
@switchman, there are too many unknowns here for anyone to offer you solid guidance or information (e.g. dimensions of your sound room; musical tastes; speaker placement; acoustics of your sound room; etc.; etc., etc.). As such, FWIW, I offer this...
