A first
@rpeluso, let me guess! The two friends who came over and love listening to music through their phones & MP3 files are young folk, no? I had a very similar experience with my grandnephew who listens to everything through his phone & ear b...
Turntable noobie...what advice do you have?
We can all argue or, rather, debate, 'till the cows come home, whether vinyl LPs, even new ones, benefit from cleaning, ultrasonic or otherwise. Be that as it may, I choose to put my faith & confidence in what the experts on this subject, incl...
Turntable noobie...what advice do you have?
@ddonicht, lots of good guidance here from the vinyl community! There's lots to know about the proper care & feeding of LPs and vinyl playback, not the least of which is proper storage, good quality anti-static poly sleeves, etc. I hesitated ...
New Analog Technology???
Velly intaresting! My brother-in-law and fellow audiophile just clued me into this alleged new analog recording & reproduction process. There’s really not a lot of information to go on for this Pinnacle method. It sounds a little like Mobile ...
Isolation Advice Needed
@livin_262002, don't know how you feel about the possibility of a wall mount for the TT but that is one consideration to consider if  you decide it needs isolation. Nothing wrong with that P6! That is one nice TT. Just needs to be placed on someth...
Isolation Advice Needed
@livin_262002, here's another two cents from the peanut gallery:  wait 'til you get set up in the new house and see if you need any isolation.  With all the additional weight put on the floor(s) from furniture, etc., you may not need to spend any ...
I'm trusting FedEx/ UPS less by the day
Just had to add my two cents to this one! I've never had ANY problem with UPS or AMAZON deliveries and only one or two with USPS, which was quickly and effectively redressed. FedEx, on the other hand, is a raging disaster of a company, in my area...
Need Help Matching to This System To Speakers
@vthokie83, "here in Chicago" you say? If you're in Chicago, surely you must have heard of Music Direct? They may not have exactly the pieces of equipment you have in your system and, admittedly, auditioning equipment at home is always the best sc...
Vinyl Repair?
I haven't seen or heard of any of those Youtube D.I.Y. vinyl fixes. However, all of those sound insane! Buy a new LP, if possible. If not, do you know anyone with a SweetVynyl SugarCube?
Upgrade path question with $2k to spend
@icegeek, my impression of your query is that you want better audio fidelity for music and, comparatively speaking, video, TV and home theater type audio is less important to you. Do I have that right? If so, I'm inclined to agree with ghdprentice...
Every day I see another turntable recommendation...
@saulh, I confess at the outset that I haven't read through this entire thread. However, as some have suggested, going "all in" on a TT set-up can mean many things. Focusing only on TT, arm & cart is, IMHO, rather myopic. There are definitely ...
Turntable - The Next Step
@gnoworyta, not sure I can be helpful here. I've done serious seat-time with a P3 with Ortofon Blue, paired with a McIntosh MA5200 and Focal Aria 936. Very, very nice sound, IMHO. However, I ended up going with a Mofi Ultradeck+M and don't regret ...
Recommended integrated amplifier for upgrade
@auronthas, not familiar with your speakers but seems they are 4 Ohm jobs. As such, I would be very wary of the MAC MA5300. Nice amp but not sure its power supply is up to the task with those speakers. It'll drive them OK, I think, but not sure it...
Please settle a bet!
As the creator of this post, I feel a certain amount of responsibility for it. It was and is intended to be, as stated, "as an exercise in vicarious fun". So, to those of you who've obviously decided to hijack it as a platform for political debate...
Please settle a bet!
@mikewerner, if it were possible or feasible, I have everyone over for Scotch & tunes.
