AT&T to cap broadband usage. Streamers beware
Oh what a can 'o worms. There are only a few who use a monumental amount of broadband and for those I say, why not. But it will not end there. The internet will be over regulated and monopolized to the point that hackers will retaliate. It should ...

Another 6922 choice is a '70s Mazda RTC from Brent Jessee.
HDMI cables are all the same?
Standards can be met but the quality of assembly goes a long way as well.I've seen photos of just how sloppy and bad the terminations are once they are exposed. The cables met the 'standard' but I wouldn't buy them now that I've seen what they loo...
Hearing loss Temporary or more permanent?
Great advice one and all, though there is nothing absolute, as this thread shows.Going back to the OP's: "now that it clean I'm listening louder", the same happened to me with my newer, present system. No matter what level I played it at, it sound...
The downward spiral.....
Yes, the speakers are the easiest to acclimate to but they are definitely limited by what's upstream. Weak link though they are, they really shine and show their potential once something really good is upstream.Case in point: I had an amp out for ...
The downward spiral.....
I'm 57 and after reading these posts I've come a similar conclusion to that of Csontos. A relatively flat response, amp and source wise, had gone a long way to making all of my CDs sound better than before. Since it has finally broken in, even rec...
The downward spiral.....
Just for the hell of it, I listened to the 'Seger Sessions' which was recorded live with no rehearsals, winging it all the way. A simple but pure recording on a simple system that blew me away. Live never sounded so good.
The downward spiral.....
Sure, there has been progress since the '70s but the improvements made in the area of materials allowed me to build a system based on old tech but made better than they could have back then. A best of both worlds scenario.I never really thought ab...
New Zu Mission cable
On an aside, I read about their 'problems' with their now, departed, marketing guru who started all this on their website. I guess anyone can be caught off guard but it takes awhile for the ripples to settle. Having said that, yes, the Zu Mission ...
Soundstage, Imaging, Detail & Presence??
Stereo comes from the Greek word, stereos, meaning 'solid'. Hopefully, if detail, imaging and presence gives one the illusion of a live event or at least, of something real happening in front of you, then Bob's your uncle; you're not in Kansas any...
Have you become too jaded with this hobby???
Thanks to the hobby aspect, I enjoy music all the more. The two go hand in hand. Hobby, the first part, is the quest for better equipment which results in better music appreciation, that second part we sometimes forget about.Getting jaded is easy ...
Listening distance
I would think that different speakers would make for different positioning. Due to the constraints of my living room, my speakers are along the long wall about 7'10" (center to center) apart and I sit a about 7' back and I get excellent sound. Eve...
Need advice on CD-Player
With all the advances made in CD playback, things have come to a head allowing you to spend less than your target price and still get excellent results.Case in point: I took my TEAC PD-H600 over to a local audiophile who sells out of his home. His...
Is it possible to get Hi-end sound ??
Ignorance is bliss. Stay away from sites like this and just cut out pictures from the mags. Tape it to the wall above what you presently have and use your imagination. When you get tired of looking at it, go back to the mags and find something els...
What cables for luxman
From what I've read of others who know more than I, balanced cables will offer no real advantage with that short of length. RCAs should be fine.As for what type/brand, there is so much here already that a quick search will lead you in the right di...
