Speaker spike feet?
The spikes in the link provided by Yogiboy look like they are mostly for adding to speaker cabinets that do not have bases or sockets for spikes. My bases have threaded sockets for them. I think I will just see how much they are from Aerial or cont...
Speaker spike feet?
Thanks melbguyone. Great explanation.
Speaker spike feet?
Thanks guys. Will look into all that. tomcarr, I agree with you completely. I'm just looking to maximize the little things with as little money as possible..........but I'm starting to think that I might have audiophile tendencies....which is the ...
New to HiFi, need digital advice.
Another dumb question: How do I get streaming from my computer into the pre-amp? Would this also require a DAC?
New to HiFi, need digital advice.
Thanks guys. I think I'l check on Bitperfect. I'll also see how far I can upgrade the OS on the old iMac. I was really hoping to find a use for it.Given the recommendations above I'd be into this for close $500 (which is not bad all things conside...

I see. Unfortunately neither Amarra or Audirvana will run on this old iMac so it seems either it or they are out of the picture and I guess I'm back to square one. I'll check with some of the other apps mentioned here. Or maybe I'll just try it th...

That's correct, I meant RCA into pre-amp. So why not iTunes? I'm not defending it and don't like it very much, I'm just curious. I've read articles where other audiophiles use it when it is set up properly (not to mess with the files) and apparent...
Your last concert was to see who and when?
Tosca at the opera house in Parma, Italy. My first opera. Loved it.
Non-audiophile needs help with older system.
Here is an update:I brought the system to my house and threw out an old love seat to make room for it.The room is 10'x20'. The system is on a short wall at one end and my listening chair is on the short wall at the other end, in other words I'm li...
Blocking the propaganda
Maybe I spoke too soon. But there are always flamers I guess.
Blocking the propaganda
There are certain reviewers in the camera world that garner a following mostly due to charisma and attempts at being iconoclastic. Even when they are shown to be inconsistent and even dead wrong their “followers” will admit no flaw. As as far as c...

Glupson, it gets just as crazy if not more so in the automotive world. There are so many more intangibles than the simple physics would suggest. The fancier and pricier the cars the worse it gets. Any given machine that performs too well and too e...
Blocking the propaganda
Glupson, my explanation about Bentleys was pure fiction. A little satire aimed at the audiophile stereotype. Not really my place to do so since I am a beginner at this and have other hobbies that likely sound equally ridiculous to those outside th...
Like female vocals - Check out Cold Specks
Well, Buddy Guy is a "black guy" so I don’t see anything condescending about that....but being at a concert and not knowing who he is, well, that’s just pitiful....Edit: Thanks for the references to some of Neko's other songs. I'll definitely look...

Thank you Mark. Looking at the Acoustic Research web site I started to wonder if I was equating them with Audio Research. Now I know. I will avoid it.I am now looking at an Audio Dynamics T-200 from the same place, also NOS. I’ve read some decent ...
