Delos bottoming out anybody else experience this?
The critical thing is that the cantilever appears at right-angles to the front face (red carrier). Surface clearance always looks small under normal operating conditions. If it seems as if it is bottoming you need to check lint accumulation on the ...
Turntable got absolutely crushed by CD
Granted Geoff, but that was probably one loose cannon. ;)I’m no expert but I think the thrust of the argument is that SNR & resolution are correlated and that one can be used to “estimate” the other?Members here appear to have applied this yar...

Turntable got absolutely crushed by CD
Let’s face it. Anyone who weighs into an analogue forum with such an inflammatory thread title is bound to expect some flak. ;)Even if I had the money for e.g. 3-box DCS CD player, the cheapest of which retails at 40 or 50K(?) I wouldn’t buy one. ...
Anyone Ever Tried This...?
No, it was a TW Acustic Raven One...Interestingly, the album that triggered the whole exercise (Camel “Mirage”) by sounding “too pacey” was later checked against the CD version and was found to be indistinguishable in that regard. LOL!
Phono Stages with External Power Supplies...Worth It?
Has anyone suggested listening and deciding for yourself whether it is worth it? ;)This more than anything else will tell you.Any dealer worth his salt will be happy to swap them out for you at the dealership or lend you both for lengthy home demo...
SAT 30K+$$ TONEARM: W O R T H T O H A V E I T ?
Sorry...to answer your other question, Lew, tie-wrap (misspelled, proprietary name “Ty-Wrap”).In the past, skilled wiremen did a fantastically artistic job using “lacing cord” but now they use the above....  :(
SAT 30K+$$ TONEARM: W O R T H T O H A V E I T ?
Hi Lew,I can understand how when we are fresh from some slightly “abrasive” forum dialogue it can influence our perception of other comments in a negative way.No chastisement intended. My remark about JE was unconnected (pardon the pun) with curre...
SAT 30K+$$ TONEARM: W O R T H T O H A V E I T ?
Dear Lewm,Apologies for the late reply and for what I consider to be an over-blunt request on my part. The reason I asked my question was that some folk have actually tried tie-wrapping an external tonearm wire to the original tonearm in a bid to s...

SAT 30K+$$ TONEARM: W O R T H T O H A V E I T ?
BTW...your Triplanar has a connector at each end of the phono cable. All you have done is reduced the number of connectors not eliminated them.
SAT 30K+$$ TONEARM: W O R T H T O H A V E I T ?
Yes, we know that. Kindly answer the question.
SAT 30K+$$ TONEARM: W O R T H T O H A V E I T ?
Dear Lewm,On a note of clarification, when you say that you did a comparison of single-loom vs “connectors” was this conducted with e.g. a fully hard-wired version of a 3012 so that it would be closer to like-for-like conditions. Alternatively are...
Replacement Linn LP12 mat
Hi Jones,The felt mat is a regular PITA on the LP12.Major disadvantage is static. It invariably charges your LPs like the very Devil then it attaches itself to LP like a limpet so when you pick it up the felt mat comes too. Annoyingly it sometimes...
SAT 30K+$$ TONEARM: W O R T H T O H A V E I T ?
The resurgence of the 3012 does revive the question of the advantageousness of the single wiring loom once more ;)Not going there.... ;)
