When You Buy The Whole Album And Only Like One Song.
"In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" by Iron Butterfly would surely qualify for "bought albums because of one track...only to find out that one track was the only one on the entire album that was listenable"
How do I get the best soundstage?
Speaker placement and room acoustics are primary factors affecting soundstage.
Revel Concerta2 F36 and the like....
Looks like a nice assembly of well spoken of gear you’ve chosen. Keep up informed when completed. And post your system in 'virtual systems'.
Gryphon Diablo 120 vs. Luxman L-509x
I don’t know about the comparison, but the Gryphon is such a unique, beautiful, and state of the art product that you just can’t go wrong with it. https://www.fidelity-magazine.com/gryphon-diablo-120/
Least Expensive Power Conditioner/Surge Protector That Won't Worsen Sound
I use a Panamax for my HT and they’re good and priced right. They even have one plug that is for high-current amps. I use an audiophile grade basic power strip for my music system.
What is an audiophile? Are you an audiophile?
Merriam-Webster: audiophile noun au·dio·phile | \ ˈȯ-dē-ō-ˌfī(-ə)l Definition of audiophile : a person who is enthusiastic about high-fidelity sound reproduction YES!
Has the cost of HiFi gotten a bit too much?
Even a modest hi-fi system w/ better totl vintage, so no need to buy stratospheric priced gear.
2nd systems- who’s got one?
2 systems here. 3.0 HT for TV in living room. Tube amplified vinyl/cd/tuner system for music in spare room. Don't know which is second system, one used more, one better sound...go figure.
Hate fireplace in home theater room
I have a fireplace on the side wall in our room. I like it there a lot and not a big fan of a tv above a fireplace or a pull down screen in front of one. On occasion we'll have the fireplace on at the same time as a movie.
Class A or Class D solid-state amplifiers (modern designs)
Saying which is better, class A or D is like asking which is better, tubes or solid state. There is no definitive answer. Great and mediocre in all class types. Part personal, part associated equipment, part environment, part 'your' ears also come...
McIntosh -- good for show, not for sound, says dealer
I don't understand why all the hate for those that love the McIntosh brand. It's like Ford vs. Chevy. Let folks enjoy what they like.
Need help picking my first tube amp
Chinese tube amps are good. Many mainstream manufactures like PrimaLuna are made in China. No worries. I'll look for a basic push-pull EL34 tube integrated that is hard wired because the circuit design is simple and repairs are as well down the ro...
Cary Audio SLP-05 First Impression
Yup, Cary products definitely have that 'wow!' factor Mr. Xcool.
Desktop Dynaudio system
I have Dynaudio Emit 10s so I know the sound. For a desktop I feel a laid back detailed amp would do the trick as Dynaudio's have a powerful bass and clear distortion-free treble. But the bass can over power the midrange, so a lean even clinical a...
McIntosh -- good for show, not for sound, says dealer
As far as the guy in the YouTube video from the OP's post...to each his own. I've heard Mac on a number of occasions and they sound stellar to me. Maybe not his taste...but mine for sure. Easy to listen to, engaging and effortless sound. I've hear...
