Recommendation for detailed/analytical bookshelf speaker?
The most detailed, analytical bookshelf speaker I’ve heard are the Revel Performance M126Be speakers. I happened upon a pair locally a few months ago to serve as temporary speakers during a relocation. They do deserve excellent upstream components...
AUDIRVANA No Support CAVEAT EMPTOR!
FWIW, I’ve used Audirvana for years, updating with all new versions and every time I’ve had an issue requiring assistance I’ve gotten a response. It has sometimes taken a day or two but I’ve had resolution and in most cases the issue involved my l...
Who is using their DAC as a preamp?
I boxed up most of my gear in preparation for an upcoming move. In the interim I’m using my Oppo 205 as a preamp. It sounds so good that I may keep using it as a preamp after my move.
Is there any "audiophile grade" Reggae out there on CD?
Agree with rpeluso on his War Ina Babylon recommendation. I bought that about 45 years ago! I would also recommend Funky Kingston by Toots and the Maytals. Great voice and excellent songs.
Are Pass Labs amps probably the best ever you can buy ?
I’ve owned Pass mono amps and a Pass integrated amp. Excellent amps. Earlier this year I picked up a Bryston 14Bsst2 amp to drive my Magnepan 20.1 speakers. With the Magnepans I prefer the Bryston to Pass. I agree with elizabeth’s suggestion to fi...
Center channel speaker recommendations
Thanks for the recommendations. I thought I had the issue resolved when I had a local deal for a Kef R600c speaker but the seller damaged the speaker getting it out of storage.
A trend I've noticed in ads.
I’ve noticed that also. I would hesitate to buy from a seller listing a piece as new when elsewhere in the ad it becomes obvious it is not new. Brand new, in use less than a year. Yes sir, gotta trust that seller!
Where to put one's best power cords??
I would put it on Audiogon, sell it and use the proceeds to purchase some music. That’s just me though.
Oppo UDP-205 MQA Confusion
Junzhang10: I’m streaming MQA from Tidal through Audirvana into the Oppo UDP-205 USB DAC input. Oppo just offered that capability. You just need to go through the DAC firmware upgrade as indicated above. The capability to play media files has been...
Oppo UDP-205 MQA Confusion
Received my 205 yesterday and upgraded the USB input to MQA capability today as indicated in anwar’s link above. I use Audirvana and it indicates MQA is being decoded by the Oppo. Nice that Oppo is offering the capability. You need USB DAC firmwar...
price of Oppo players threw the roof
I paid for one that was “in stock” through Magnolia Design Center in April only to be told they were not really in stock. Magnolia offered to keep my money in hopes of fulfilling my order one day. I declined, put my name on the Oppo wait list and ...
Would the wireless KEF LS-50's be good front Home Theater speakers?
I can’t answer your question on integrating the KEFs in a home theatre system although I don’t see why they wouldn’t work. I purchased the KEF LS-50 W speakers for a second system a couple of months ago. Unlike freediver I find them to live up to ...
Oppo exploring additional production of UDP 205
Just placed an order through them now. Free shipping and they had about 50 in the warehouse but going quick I was told. You should be able to order with whoever answers.
Oppo UDP-205 MQA Confusion
I called Oppo last week about another matter with my BDP-105 player. I asked about MQA capability on the new Oppo and was told exactly that, the player only reads MQA on a media file or CD. I understand some MQA CDs may be available and I assume d...
Which audio component would you like Santa to place under the christmas tree for you?
I’d like the pair of ears I had in my younger years. Great hearing and no more tinnitus! Then I’ll look at upgrading my system.
