New format, dislike.....
To clarify my previous complaint, it's the discussions (threads) that are not in chronological order on the Recent Activity page.
New format, dislike.....
The various posts apparently no longer appear in the chronological order of the original post, but instead seem to be continually rearranged based on the activity of the thread.
How do you respond to this question?
I'm an old guy who purchased a lot of music on LP over the years. I am not about to try to replace it all with digital at this point. Besides, I have some titles on both LP and CD, and usually the LP is the better sounding copy. I'm sure there are...
CD Recorder Died - Best Replacement Option?
I have an older Tascam CD-RW5000 that I have used trouble-free for years. It makes very good sounding CD's and uses standard data CD-R's. Get a newer one than mine, though. It's so old, it won't recognize any blank media over 12X!
Platter Levelling Issue
I should correct something I said earlier. I said "you'll never get it perfect". That's not entirely true. You could very well get it perfect, but there is no way you'll ever know for certain! The graduations on your level are most likely intended ...
Platter Levelling Issue
"...each marking is supposed to represent 5/1000's of a degree."As a surveyor, I was constantly dealing with error; something that is always there in even the most precision instruments available. So, the first thing to do is accept that you'll ne...
For Your Amusement, or Dismay...
I agree, Jafreeman, that the quality of a CD player is also important, but I believe that the average consumer will be less likely to achieve a satisfying sound quality, dollar for dollar, with a turntable than they would with a plug-n-play CD pla...
Can You Rewind The Broadcast On A Bonehead Play?
There is a device that actually does what you want. It was invented by a Mr. Peabody, and is called a Way-Back machine.
For Your Amusement, or Dismay...
The author did a decent job of describing the shortcomings of vinyl, but left out the most important part; the playback equipment. The majority of the record players out there are either mechanically inadequate or have not been set up correctly. I...
Buliding off of my Technics 1200
The Technics 1200 is a good table. Check out some of the tweaks available at www.kabusa.com especially the tonearm damper.
Hey Elizabeth Where you be??
I have also been concerned. Where are you, Elizabeth? We miss you!
Upgrade from Technics 1200 MK2? $1-$1.5k budget
I have an SL-1200 with a Jelco SA-750D tonearm, Herbies mat and Michell record clamp and I am VERY satisfied with it. The tonearm has built-in fluid damping and with my Denon DL-160 tracks very well. It's hard to beat the 12X0's rock solid speed.
Beates Mono- CD Box Set -Japanese pressing / issue
Be VERY careful. I'm in the process right now of returning an eBay purchase of a counterfeit. Since I got burned, I have been researching this. There is a lot of wacky info out there, but my understanding is that all of the authentic 2009 release ...
My new TV doesn't have an RCA video in.....
If you only need this video for programming and don't require color, try plugging the single composite video cable into one of the three component jacks. I'm not positive, but you should get black/white. It would save you the cost of an adapter.
Super-sensitive volume controls - remedy?
I understand what you're getting at, Atmasphere, but even back in the 70's and 80's I don't recall using any source that required turning the volume pot up much past 12:00 on any amp I ever owned. Of course, I have forgotten a lot of things about ...
