First pre/pro and hopefully last
it's simple.connect the line level outputs for L/R from the processor to one set of pre-amps inputs. connect all the two-channel sources to the pre-amp. connect the pre-amps L/R line level outputs to the two main amplifier channels. connect the pr...
Wadia 861
I've heard the 861 and 861se in several very revealing systems. Neither Wadia is edgy or graining by itself.Compared to the ARC or the Ayre, the Wadias are in a different league. The Wadias also cost more.
Looking for excellent DAC without a preamp section
Why care if the DAC has a variable output? You don't have to use it, and at unity gain the output stage is not really in the picture (to varying degrees). Most high end DACs do have a variable output. Why discount a Meitner DCC2 or Wadia 27ix becau...
Meadowlark Nightingale, Wilson WP7, Aerial 20 T
keep in mind where you live. In the USA, the JMLabs are a hard sell. Fantastic, but your paying for cross Atlantic shipping. In Europe, they are hard to beat. The Kharma's sound fantastic. Fantastic. But, I hate them. As stated above, this isn't re...
First pre/pro and hopefully last
I can't say enough about the high quality 2 channel pre-amp with HT pass thru and a seperate processor. The pre-amp doesn't even need a specific HT passthru, you just need to be able to reliably hit the same volume setting. So any pre-amp with a d...
Classe CAM 350 discontinued....why?
classe is revamping their whole product line. i wouldn't expect the omega based mono-blocks to change much.i didn't buy the 350's, i opted to spend way more, for slightly better sound. keep the 350's, they are great.
Stereo amp upgrade path?
essentiall you have two choices. the cheapest out is to buy another AVR WITH pre-outs. this will give you much better audio tham that old yamaha, and set you up for you next upgrade.the other way is ultimately cheaper, with a higher up front cost....
2-channel amps with 4 sets of binding posts
several amps provide connections like this for the speakers. It is indeed for bi-wiring.
Center Channels sound crappy
It's a shame that Dunlavy is no more. Their HRCC center channel is phenomenal with music/HT. It is essentially as SC-IVa "squished".Dynaudio also makes a monster center, but it is even more money than the Dunlavy was. Both of these demonstrate that...
Best CD player now made.
The Wadia 861se now sets the performance benchmark for $10K or under CDPs, at this date.
Salamander Video Racks
I use a twin 20 for one system, a twin 30 in another room, and a single 40 without sides as a piece of furniture on the other side of the house.I cut the aluminum risers on my twin 30 with a chop saw and carbide tipped blade. then drilled and tapp...
200 to 300 wpc amp revised question
I concur totally with the last post, and site the first posts as simply incorrect. Large powerful amplifiers are necessary to provide instantaneous current, dynamic headroom, driver control and impedance matching. It is not simply a matter of watch...
Wadia think about expensive CD Players ?
Well I'm on my Nth CDP now. It all started innocently enough with a Yamaha, then a Denon (and a whole new system), then a Meridian 500 Transport (and another whole new system), then a Meridian 588, then a Cary 306/200, now a Wadia 861se.Along the ...
