Bryston 4B-SST vs. 6B-SST
I'm looking at the same setup; the 6B-SST is currently my preferred solution, but Theta's Dreadnaugth II is now on the radar screen, as well. My own view is that at this price point, and level of quality, much is determined by 'what name you want ...
Revel vs. Aerial vs. B&W
I own the N802s, and extensively listened to them, relative to the AA 10Ts. To me, the N802s sounded more coherent (smoothness across the lows to highs): also, I liked the looks.)The Studios are more comparative to the N802s: the Salons are in no-...
Rowland Model 1 w/ B&W 802N
The N802s want to be bi-amped, though doing this actively becomes very expensive. My recommendation is to bypass the Rowland (quality at a price), and drop into Bryston 4B-ST, per Speaker, or using two of their 250wpc powerpacks (you can put these...
B&K separates or the AVR307?
I fully concur with Sdcampbell. I have the B&K 202, and it's a nice piece of equipment. However, the 150wpc may not be sufficient for more demanding HT (5 to 7 channels driven) or DVD-A (5 full range speakers); also, you are paying for a Tuner...
B&W Nautilus 802, JRDG 112
The JRDG should not have shut down. The N802 has a 3ohm load on the woofer, which should have allowed the JRDG plenty of power (I believe it doubles into 4 ohms), at this point, the N802 should not have pulled too much. The Martin Logans (wonderfu...
I want to upgrade the amp section in my B&K 307...
I have the B&K 307, as well as the B&K 220M monoblock: I don't think you'll hear the difference between the 307 and the 7250.Also, the normal rap on B&K amps is that they're not as strong as an equivalent Krell or Bryston (both of whic...
Revel Gem/ B&W 802
Guys, I guess...The N802s are in the better league than the Gems: more like between the Studios and the Salons ($15k, on a good day). With the N802s you don't need a subwoofer for clean, clear music.
Mark Levinson 336 vs Krell 600c
My recommendation is the ML: I own the N802s, and they are worth the money spent for great amplification. The Krells might be too bright for them, though. Also, I'm surprised that you want this level of power. The N802s are very efficient speakers,...
B&W 802 or REVEL STUDIO/KRELL FBP-200C
I own the N802s, and they have very precise Highs, Mids and Lows: it's the amp that is bright. The Studios are excellent speakers, although the efficiency on them will consume much of what the Krell has to offer: you'll lose on some of the dynamic ...
Bryston SP1 . .. any experience with this preamp ?
SD:You've been absent, or perhaps, I have been.I appreciated your insight, as well. I'm looking to convert my electronics (I'm very satisfied with my B&W N802s). My current thoughts are to the new BAT 6200 Amp, though the Theta Dreadnaught is ...
What do you think about MIRAGE speakers..particularly OM s
The Mirage are excellent. I had the OM-6s for about 2 years, then upgraded by going 3x the cost: to B&Ws. The OM-6s had good bass and clear mids & HIs. You'll do fine with your choice.
outlaw 950 pro vs B&K ref 30
I'm suprised at the comparison. The Ref 30 is probably the best, $ for $, pre-pros on the market; it's proven, well-analyzed and held in excellent regard. The Outlaw is several steps down the food chain.
Digital Interconnect Questions
It is all relative, fortunately. If you have $30k invested in Amps, Pre-amps and DVD/CD players, then you want an associated cable to connect the equipment.Otherwise, you won't hear the difference. I'm one of those people that have the high-priced ...
Add a sub to BW N804?
The B&W ASW 2500 is an equally good choice. the RELs are superb subwoffers; the ASW2500 is built to blend with the Nautilus series.
B K Reference 30 Audio/Video Preamp
B&K builds to a 'seperates' standard. I have the AVR202 (which has the Ref 20 pre-amp) and, for me, there is no reason to upgrade.
