Help: DSOTM Sounds better on CD than LP
BTW,Regarding being accurate or musical, don't be fooled into think you have to go for one or the other but not both or that it must cost a fortune to achieve both.
Help: DSOTM Sounds better on CD than LP
"As you all know CD should never sound better than analog so I am now faced with the dilemma of how to bring balance back to the universe."I know this to not be the case.Check out my review of "Days of Future Passed" by The Moody Blues here on a'g...
Where to go from here
Gm,I really doubt its the Cambridge player, unless something is not right with it. WHat you describe is not necessarily its nature based on when I've heard it compared to good vinyl on a well set up dealer system.Maybe the Adcom amp? I'm not an Ad...
SS Preamp with Tube Amp?
"But you can't "roll" transistors; so if you want to tailor the sonics, why you're just SOL ;-)"An undeniable benefit of tubes. Getting it right is all about tailoring sonics somehow more so than which piece is better than others, although some un...
SS Preamp with Tube Amp?
"Semi suggests that a tube pre and amp is the ultimate."I believe this has the biggest upside in regards to realistic sound reproduction with tube amplification and with most speakers out there today, particularly in larger rooms. Juice (current) ...
What is the affect of cd player?
That's a good player that is hard to beat for sound quality in a well set up rig. Different players sound different and some may sound better to you. Some mayhave better build quality but that does not necessarily always translate into a better so...
Where to go from here
I think you should be able to with the 640. I've heard it done well with the 840c and I think the 640 is supposed to be sonically equivalent.I guess it would help to know more about what sounds good with the vinyl and wrong with the CDs to you?
SS Preamp with Tube Amp?
I doubt it matters in general. If you want to bask in tubelike sound, this can probably accomplish that depending on the details but more tubes in the signal path will probably be merrier.I'm still a bit befuddled by the whole fascination with tube...
It is all about the ‘Room’, thinks Toole.
I haven't read but would say in general that the venue is always the first thing to consider when designing any particular sound. In the specific case of home audio, the room is your venue and the sound comes from your system. The fast path to a so...
Recommendations for good jazz radio stations
WWOZ in New ORleans is another good station with good sound quality broadcast over the internet. The Radio Roku service accessible via Internet from a Roku Soundbridge device on your system provides access to thousands of free internet stations, ma...
Recommendations for good jazz radio stations
No single station these days, but there is a lot of good jazz programming scattered around still on FM and Internet stations. My current fav is the program "G Strings" featuring a very knowledgeable host and a fantastic variety of Jazz Guitar recor...
Why is the price of new tonearms so high
For that price range and to achieve the performance levels expected, everything must be in sync and tuned in exactly, which requires considerable expertise. Otherwise buying an expensive tonearm must surely be a waste. You have to be seriously ded...
Seeking Ten Years After song
Does Alvin Lee still tour? Can he and his band still "tear it up" like in his prime?
Seeking Ten Years After song
"Cricklewood Green" is a fantastic psychedelic blues/rock album that has fantastic sound as well! One of my vinyl treasures. Highly recommended if your into that kind of stuff. If not, give a listen and see if you change your mind.BTW, its only a ...
Music Server with no DAC?
