Ohio Vinylohiles, and other who love analog fronts
I have both Oracles and Sotas and havent had any problem with either. I do have an Alexandria up for sale now. They are both well built tables that have had plenty of time to work out the bugs. I also have an Empire 298. They are built like a tank...
Dussun V8I vs. Seventies amps and receivers?
I have been using a Dussun V6i in my downstairs system for about a year now and have nothing but good things to say about it. It is driving PSB Stratus Golds. Sounds great with a number of different inputs. Build quality excellent, nice remote con...
Good turntable needed, need recomendations.
Is it just me, or is the above discussion almost impossible to understand due to spelling and grammatical errors. It almost seems as though I am reading something written by persons for whom english is a second or third language, or by the people ...
Good turntable needed, need recomendations.
My Oracles have been set and forget. This myth of difficult setup has been passed down from the original Oracle Delphi and was mostly solved by MKII and solved by MKIv. The latest MKVI is no more difficult to maintain than any table after you put ...
Is One Subwoofer Really Not Appropriate For 2-Chnl
One can work fine. I use a 10" NHT sub with my NHT Classic 3 speakers and the sound is very detailed and smooth.
Good turntable needed, need recomendations.
If appearance is a consideration, then I would agree with the recommendation of the Oracle Delphi MKV or VI. I think the issue of a vacuum platter is important, and if you can't swing the Basis, then the Sota Star or higher will give you most of w...
Townshend Rock III audition
Yeah, I'm pretty surprised at the effect. I am putting together a DIY table with some ideas I have, and I definitely think this damping system will be included. I wish Townshend sold them as a retrofit for other tables.
Dialing in my analog rig - Need help
Wow, there is some unusual math going on here. If a 4mm rise in the tonearm at its pivot point creates a 1 degree change in the sra, and the difference between the thickness of a 120g record and a 200 gram record is less than 1mm, then the change ...
What cartridge for VPI and SOTA
I have used the Dyna 17d2 on an SME309 and Sota Star with very nice results.
higher end jazz vinyl: where to turn?
If you are serious about playing vinyl, a VPI or similar record cleaning machine is a must. Just accept it and do it. As for $50 records, most are wonderful, but not 3 times better than an original 50s or 60s record in its original condition, unle...
Looking for a best TT without arm for under 10K.
Oracle Delphi Mk VI for a suspended tableor Sota CosmosTransrotor Fat Bob for non suspended or VPI Classic 3. Spend the rest on a great cartridge
pure ipod dock
ok, ordered one up. I'll hook it up alongside the Wadia and see what I hear.
pure ipod dock
Cant seem to get on to Pure's website in US. Is there somewhere else I can order it from?
Ortofon/Dynavector ? cartridge characteristics
I assume someone spending up to 4k on a cartridge would have or will have a phono stage that is suitable for that cartridge. Same thing goes for the tonearm. I would put my vote in for a Dynavector based on my experience with many dyna's of differ...
Townshend Rock Mk III table upgrade
After further research, it seems that the valve is a Woods valve, designed by Dunlop, which was mounted to the tire of choice for road bicycles in the 60s. It can be inflated with a presta type pump fitting, but it works differently. Figures the E...
