Help: my neighbor is killing my music....
The first thing I would do is talk to the guy. That way, you'll know for certain whether he's thick as a block of concrete or he just doesn't care that he is disturbing his neighbors. If it's the former, just your efforts to communicate may be enou...
Eva Cassidy newbee
Papertrail is right. Get them all. There are some gems on each one. That said, IMO, Live at Blues Alley is the most consistent and best accompanied of her albums. Most of the others have a clinker or two and amateurish musical support, but her phra...
About Lugnut -- Patrick Malone
Jeff,Kidding or not, I'm working on it. I have a nice spot all picked out for a Teres 255.
About Lugnut -- Patrick Malone
Pat,I feel a bit awkward commenting here, as I only know of you what I've read on this site.I have to say that I believe it took great depth of character for you to speak out here as you have, despite your modesty about it. I'm sure I could not ha...
Grounding Issue/Electrical
The ground screw is just 'touching' the box? That doesn't sound like a good idea at all. That probably means an intermittent or high resistance connection at best.Do yourself(and your gear) a favor: shut off the breaker, yank the outlet, run a sel...
BAT + VR 4 JR = ?
I have an all BAT system with VR4jrs and Goertz MI-2 is probably my last speaker cable. Super low impedance, great for longer runs. This stuff is about as sonically transparent as it gets.
Cryoe your speaker cables
Try controlled thermal processing. They have quite a bit of experience with both the cryo process and applying it to audio gear.
Where do you find new music?
Streaming radio. I'm lucky enough to be able to listen at work. When something interesting comes up, I put it on one of my wish lists. I can later research the find a little more thoroughly and make a decision to purchase or not.
What's the "worst" cdp for the money?
Joey, you could take Liz's tack and smash them both with a hammer just to save face. That would give you a reprieve on the suicide thing. The problem comes when you attempt to buy a replacement. How long before the new one shows up on this thread?...
Which companies also offer good service??
Without doubt Victor and the boys at BAT will exceed your expectations. They've always gone above and beyond the call of duty where I've been concerned and I'd bet I'm not alone. Truly first rate people.
Popping when source is switched or muted HUH????
I'm not convinced there is anything wrong with your pre. Did you have the problem before inserting the InnerSounds? Since you haven't mentioned it, I'll assume you aren't using the ESL x-over/amp that mates with the stats? If not, what are you usi...
What's the "worst" cdp for the money?
Still very impressive service. You know, the bludgeoning thing sounds like it would be really good for your mental health. If I didn't have so much money tied up in my toys, I'd probably take great pleasure in beating the bejesus out of at least a ...
What's the "worst" cdp for the money?
Incredible, Elizabeth! If you listened for 10 hours every day, that would equate to about 27.37 years of play. That's pretty good reliability. Sure you weren't counting in dog hours?
Blue Note Jazz Recordings
Ray, they have a pretty decent website. It would be nice if they would add the ability to search by record label, though. I sent them a suggestion for same during a particularly frustrating session where I was trying to queue all the Blue Note RVG...
Blue Note Jazz Recordings
No problem, Ray. They may not have a huge selection of what you might call 'audiophile' quality recordings, but there are a few gems and there are probably quite a few pieces you can use to fill out your collection where you wouldn't want to pay f...
