Audiphile Press: Am I jaded, experienced, or has it declined?
It's certainly true that the mags are less relevant to audiophile life than they once were.  The reviewers sometimes have useful insights into how to use a product, or its limitations, that I might not have figured out myself.    I like the ads! ...
Best Place for Bootleg Recordings?
@ tomcarr many of my favorite recordings are boots of live concerts.  For musicians who improvise (eg, Hendrix, SRV, Garcia, Knopfler, Willie) it makes all the difference in the world.     And most people in concert, even Crow,  stretch out song...
Finally everyone can enjoy good sounds at home with LG TV bars and Meridean speakers
I have an LG soundbar (around  $800) that I got primarily so I wouldn’t use my system for movies so much, i.e., to preserve tube life and have decent sound from the tv that my wife can operate.  The LG sounds pretty good until I turn on the main s...
has anyone tried chinese cables?
@williewonka,  thanks!
has anyone tried chinese cables?
@williewonka  thanks for the detailed analysis; I agree with it, for the most part.  Would add that the construction methods and skill also matter.   But, if cable materials and construction were the whole story, there would be far fewer cable d...
Experiences with the Degritter RCM
the HumminGuru is a 40 khz device.  Much cheaper, but Apparently not in the same class as a Degritter.
When were the best tube amps made?
the best tube amps are being made now. modern power tubes are in some important ways “better”, i.e. kt-120, Kt-150 and Kt-170 have greater plate dissipation.  So amps using those tubes can be designed which exceed past efforts, in a more compact ...
Phono Stage Question.....
https://forum.audiogon.com/discussions/is-a-lyra-kleos-good-with-a-current-mode-phono-preamp Here’s a prior question I posed on this subject
Phono Stage Question.....
It was my understanding that the Delos and Sutherland would not be a good match.
Mid-fi tube vs high-end SS
@audiman, "they use torroid type which  no Highend company uses" My Rogers EH200Mk2 uses a giant toroid.  Can't imagine anyone saying it is not  "high end".   op, are you planning to use the same speakers and switch amps?  physically, or with a...
Time to do house cleaning.
The boxes alone take up tremendous amounts of space, and they deteriorate rapidly.  Selling takes time and effort, and I won’t list anything that doesn’t work perfectly, so I have donated some good stuff to Goodwill. for some things, like Opera re...
Hum on Tube Amp - Can't find source
Could you take an amp to a friend’s house and insert it in their system?  That would answer whether it us the amp or something in your house’s power system.     MF’s article in Stereophile about the generator he installed would lead me to suspect...
Phono Cartridge Purchase from Asia?
I looked at the ad, but the seller is not identified.  How do you find his identity to look up feedback?
Has something gone wrong @ Stereophile?
Thanks for all the responses.  I went ahead and renewed at the mag’s site, and accepted the automatic renewal.    Herb, I enjoy your writings more than all the other Stereophile writers combined. I have great respect for your knowledge and opinio...
I've been selling heavier gear for lighter gear
+ 1, @photon46  Yes, weight matters to me, for the same reason.  Getting a heavy amp boxed and to the shipper, then eventually back home, is a pia. Unfortunately, great amps are not lightweight.  At least, not yet.
