High Quality Input Switch?
Try to find a Zektor HDS 4.2 A/V switcher. It does passive switching of analog signals using high quality relays just like input selector in amps and preamps. It's a high bandwidth unit that can switch video and digital signal as well.
Cassette decks. How good can it get?
@richopp Tandberg's were priced lower than TOTL Nakamihci decks IIRC around $1200. They were sold in lower numbers as well. Dragon was one of the best and longest selling Nakamihcis

@richopp The Tandberg model you are referring to might be 3014/3014A. They're great at what they do with  lowly cassette tape.
I need help regarding tube phono preamplifiers
Having heard and owning Rhea Signature, I completely agree with Jim. I have to warn you that Rhea is very very sensitive to tube quality (noise and microphony).
cassettes CAN sound better than vinyl.
There are few cassette decks that do a very good job of replicating the source. They cannot beat a good vinyl playback system but can hold their own. Nakamihcis, as good as they are, could not replicate the ambience and image like the vinyl source...
What Integrated Amp do You use
Currently Graaf GM50B had Audio Analogue Maestro and Verdi prior to getting the Graaf and LSA statement before AA.

Loud thud heard through speakers
Thank you @cal3713. No pop with digital source is what got me thinking.

Update. It was bad buffer tube in the phono stage. Replaced the tube and all is well now.
Loud thud heard through speakers
@cal3713 Thank you for the suggestion. I'll try playing same tracks from a digital source today and see if I can induce the pop. If there's no pop then as you said it could be a problem in my analog chain.
Loud thud heard through speakers
Ok, narrowed it down to the Sub. The noise is not coming from the speakers but from the Sub. Not sure why the Sub is popping so loud during loud musical passages even though there's hardly any low frequency information at that moment.

@yeti42  thank you for sharing your experience. How loud was the thud you heard? I was listening to music at moderate level, listening to Muddy Waters Folk Singer. When his vocals got loud is when I heard the thud and both times the noise coincide...
