Just a mild point about personality typing.  Look up Myers Briggs.  It is a well accepted typology that evaluates 4 dimensions on a continuum suggesting a characteristic based on the strength of placement on each.It has been in use in both busines...
Honest opinions on my two picks of loudspeakers
Speakers are the most individual sensitive component. The best we can do is offer a variety of choices you may enjoy, but in the end it is your ears and wallet that will rule the day. There is a reason that horns and planar / electrostatic speakers...
NUPRIME EVOLUTION ONE-BEST CLASS D AMP ON THE MARKET
Interesting how you attack me, having zero idea about my background.  You are such a shill that no one believes anything you say.  I hope your continued attacks and idiocy make you happy as most certainly you have no support here.In case you haven...
NUPRIME EVOLUTION ONE-BEST CLASS D AMP ON THE MARKET
It is all puffery about class D.  The opening statement was sufficient to see a pure shill. The hyperbole in the opening typically is that of a shill.Class D has its place, but be real about what it truly is.
Recommend speakers for a large living room
I would suggest listening to 30.7 Maggies, their size would not over power the room and properly set up the sound is amazing. There are many fine choices, and synergy with the amp is critical as you listen to the candidates, Good Luck!
Magnepan 1.7 i - Amp suggestions
For a lower budget, a used Audio Research 150.2 would so quite nicely.   I had one a few years back.If you ever have some extra funds the Bryston option is terrific as are McIntosh MC501 mono blocks. In your situation, much is about availability an...
Who remembers audio from the time when ...
I spent the late 60s in Germany in the army where I bought my first System of separates.  Sansui AU-555, TU-555, Dual 1019, Sansui SP-100 and and AKAI reel to reel. When I returned to Pgh and went back to college, it was an amazing time of shared m...
Amps with meters ...
Visual aesthetics are different for everyone based upon many factors.  I love the big blue meters on my MC501s and also enjoy the rest of my gear’s visuals in low light settings when I am listening.None of it affects the sound, it is all what the ...
Good Pre-Amps For McIntosh
I have a C220 McIntosh pre amp in conjunction with a pair of MC501 amps.  The drive a 4 ohm load, 3.6 Maggie’s and the sound is amazing. It would be my guess that the same reasonably priced pre amp would have great synergy with your 601s.  And if i...
sellers trying to sell used product for 10-20% off of list price
Lumping all gear together is a major mistake in terms of pricing.   McIntosh discounts for new products are rare and their used gear holds its value better than the market for amps, pre amps and tube gear. There are high end products that sell at a...
Most annoying song, period.
The song was Surfing Bird by the Trashmen.  I kind of liked that song.Big plus 1 for any Yoko Ono song, especially the one that was very long and consisted of her caterwauling.  I have repressed the name of it.
Things that make you go, "Hmmmmm...."
McIntosh gear tends to hold its value better over time than most other equipment.  It is all relative.
Matching Gear matter to you?
I have a SS amp and tube Pre Amp from the same mfg.   The synergy is the unmistakable.    Like to say XYZ is always compatible with itself.
Maggie owners (past, present, future) what do (did) you love and or dislike about them?
I believe your room is fine and your power adequate.  I have had 3.6 Maggies for over 10 years.  I went through a number of amps and ended up with a pair of MC501s that make them sing.  It was a journey, but most satisfying when the end is so grea...
High value, giant killer speakers?
