Best used turntable(s) around $1500.00 for playing metal and rock
You want a setup with balls, not pansy audiophile delicacy.
Best used turntable(s) around $1500.00 for playing metal and rock
For rock and metal, you should consider a Technics SL-1200 turntable and find a NOS Stanton 680 EL cartridge.  IMO this is THE best and certainly the most classic combo for rock and metal.

This new McIntosh integrated looks like a winner
I think it looks kinda cheesy.

Any Conrad-Johnson preamp made before 1990.  I have a PV8 and I love it.
Phono cable build question
Thank you all for your input. I appreciate you taking your valuable time to do so. 🙏🏽
Phono cable build question
sleepwalker65 - what I’m asking is how exactly would you build them? I tried understanding what you’ve already written but, as I’m a novice, I’m a bit confused. Do you solder the shields of the interconnect cables to anything? If so, to what and w...
Phono cable build question
Hi sleepwalker65- So I attach the black ground wire from the tt to the preamp chassis as normal.  Then, on the preamp end of the phono cables I cut the shield off and do not solder to anything.  But on the tt end, I twist and solder each shield to...
Phono cable build question
Thanks cleeds- so I connect the shield of the phono cable to the negative at the preamp side, not the phono side?
Speaker advice for listening to Blues music
I recommend vinyl, tube equipment and speakers made prior to 1990.  Vintage is the best way to listen to the blues.
Considering switching to Tubes
Hi, I had a similar SS system to yours but went tube about a year ago and could not be happier.  But, I made a few mistakes I hope you can avoid.  I first tried the cheap Chinese made equipment and was not happy.  Then, I figured out I could get a...
Replace CJ with new equipment
Don’t sell your CJ stuff, please. I’d start with getting NOS preamp tubes for both units and replace the 6550’s if necessary. NOS tubes are way better than the modern tubes CJ that sells at a ridiculous mark up. Then, replace ALL the electrolytic ...

Vinyl System Upgrade Path Recommendations
I’d go with the Nagaoka MP110 then see where you’re at. That will probably be enough. If not, check back.
