VAC preamps - too expensive?
Thanks for the info, and it makes sense.  I wonder if anyone has run REW frequency response for a component with fuse swaps.
VAC preamps - too expensive?
@highstream That’s interesting regarding the VAC power supply fuse holder. I’m 100% sure I loaded from the top, since my preamp sits inside my entertainment center and can only be accessed from the top. I found the M1 fuse in my N20 to provide ...
VAC preamps - too expensive?
@highstream I changed the fuse to an Audio Magic Ultimate Premier a while back. The tray slides out about an inch or so and locks without coming all the way out. There are two slots from what I recall where the outer fuse is used in the circuit....

Aurender N20
@lalitk    Thank you very much.  I’ll definitely check out critical listening soon, but everything sounds incredible now.  I do have the display off though.   My bedroom system consists of components over the decades.  The Audiolab 8000CD was m...
Aurender N20
@vonhelmholtz    Actually thank you for posting this thread.  I’ve had the N20 on my radar for a while.  I knew that I was going to upgrade, but your thread made me bite the bullet.  I’m so happy that I did.  Also my dealer informed me that ther...

The 6-digit code appears on the N20’s screen when connecting to the Conductor app.  I guess it’s an authentication code that you enter into the app on the iPad to pair to the N20.  I haven’t needed to enter it again.   I’ve been listening to the...
Aurender N20
@ghdprentice I’m anxious to hear it in my system, but I’m not excited. After all it’s just a component in my system. Anyway, my N20 was delivered today. I like how easy it is to install the hard drive compared to taking apart the Auralic. It is...
Aurender N20
My N20 just shipped from my dealer, so I should have it this weekend. Like OP, I have a Holo Audio May KTE DAC, but I’m using a Shunyata Omega USB. Both the N20 and DAC will be powered by the Everest using a Sigma v1 PC. Looking forward to hearing...
Streamer Recommendation.
@ghdprentice I’m sure that I’ll enjoy the N20. The design of the Aurender by isolating each part of the unit (capacitors, digital circuit board, transformer/power supplies and hard drive space) along with the extra power supply all factor in to ...

Congrats on your decision to purchase the Auralic Aries G2.1.  I’ve had mine for over 2 years and still love it.  It works well over Wi-Fi, but I’m using pretty fancy ethernet cabling and audiophile network switch.  The Lightning DS app is easy to...
My New Magnepan 1.7i's sound dull and lifeless on the top end...why?
OP, this will answer some questions: I’ve been a loyal Maggie owner for decades using 10s, 1.6s and 3.6s as my main speakers. I even bi-amped my 3.6s using a Pass Labs XVR -1 crossover. I moved on to YG Acoustics and couldn’t be happier. T...
VAC preamps - too expensive?
Trinnov it’s a nice unit but very few people you 16 channels. If you’re only using seven or eight channels which is quite a bit, this unit would seem wasteful. Not sure all the excess bodes well for good sound. Would be nice if Home theate...
VAC preamps - too expensive?
“They need to modernize their functionality. They have a home theater knob on the front of the box and yet the remote can’t control input selection. I believe volume can be controlled by the Remote.” No, the volume from a HT processor/preamp can’...
Which pair of speakers changed your Hifi life?
I’ve been a Magnepan owner for over two decades (10’s, 1.6’s and 3.6’s).  Then came my YG Acoustics Carmel 2’s mated to two REL 212/SE subs.  I now experience much more detail, accuracy, speed and musicality that I’ve never experienced with Magnep...
