D'Agostino vs. Ayre
Yes I've had both in my system.Ayre: incisive, fast, obsessive. Stunning with Vandersteens.D'Agostino: palpable, organic, transparent. Astonishing with Magicos or YGs. Choose your poison. There is no antidote.
A Couple Of Articles For Digital Listeners
Marktomaras try Radka Toneff "Fairy Tales" and Paul Simon "You're the One" albums analog vs digital on your system. I doubt one will blow away the other as you requested but the digital is clearly superior on my system.
Do you Bi-Wire, if you can?
Biwiring for me produced a a slight "difference" in the sound preferred by some but not by others myself included. I sold the second SC and bought a better IC for source to amp which improved the sound dramatically for EVERYONE who listened. YMMV.
What is the answer?
Rosebud.
Most achingly-beautiful music
Domenico Zipoli, Elevazione for oboe, cello and strings. Ethereal music written in the early 18th century. Zipoli was a Jesuit missionary in Argentina. Ennio Morricone's score for the film "The Mission" (also beautiful) sounds thematically very si...
Magico S1 vs YG Carmels
I've heard both of these speakers several times in different rooms and systems. They both punch significantly above their weight but I'd give a slight nod to the Carmel which I found to be somewhat more resolving and to have more precise imaging. ...
Analytical or Musical Which way to go?
What if the choice was accurate vs. euphonic? Same parameters. Different semantics.
Hansen Prince: Dartzeel, Soulution or Boulder
Stringreen, the marvel of YOUR ears is truly inestimable. Thanks for sharing.Hififreak, thanks for your comments. The Steinway humbles many components, my own included. I did compare the darTZeel combo with the Boulder in my system before committi...
Hansen Prince: Dartzeel, Soulution or Boulder
Hififreak, I'm a big fan of the Hansens and all the electronics you mention, albeit only recently with the Soulutions.I concur that the darTZeels are the warmest, the Soulutions the most neutral and that the Boulders split the difference.I think y...
Focus on 24/192 Misguided?.....
Tubes better than SS, vinyl better than CD, Redbook better than HiRez with all the theory to prove it. The pattern persists. And MP3 will kill us all.
mbl - is there a problem?
Peace Dev. I'd just really like to see pictures of your system which seems absolutely top drawer.Only heard MBL 101Es with MBL electronics in a suboptimal setup but could tell they were pretty special.I'd love to hear them with the VAC Sig Mk2a pr...
mbl - is there a problem?
Mvp, Dev's last response illustrates your point. Wonder why he doesn't post pix of his system? It would improve his credibility. Dev, great system. Love to see it.
DCS Puccini and Uclock vs Debussey and Uclock
Jfrech, native DSD with dCS is incomparable. Upsampling all PCM to DSD is not necessarily preferable. I've found listening to PCM at native resolution through a quality DAC superior to the processed complexity of upsampling. 16/44 sounds contrived...
DCS Puccini and Uclock vs Debussey and Uclock
Jfrech, the Paganini Upsampler needs to accept 32/384 from all inputs and allow defeat of the automatic DSD upsampling in case you prefer native resolution, like me. After leading the charge they are ossified into a late 20th century perspective. ...
DCS Puccini and Uclock vs Debussey and Uclock
Brian Berdan from Brooks Berdan LTD brought over a dCS Puccini, U- Clock and Debussy and we listened carefully to all possible configurations. We kept our opinions to ourselves until the session was over. Somewhat surprisingly, we both concluded t...
