Best "Budget" / "bang for my buck" 2-channel amp and speakers can I get new?
The best value by far is in active speakers. It seems you get the amplification for free and now with mainstream speaker makers like Dynaudio,Focal and Tannoy producing those products there is plenty of high quality choice.
Have you heard darTZeel Amplifiers
Yes I have heard one of the Chinese versions.A Weiliang with the big blue Sprague power supply caps. There are cheaper versions and other than the speaker protection circuit they appear to be pretty close to the real thing. I can't say how close t...
NAKAMICHI PA-7 & Klipsch safe and sound
I had a PA7 for a while.Decent sounding amps but why would you use one one high sensitivity speakers?.I also own an Usher R1.5 which is also a Nelson Pass [Threshold] design and sounds better than the PA7 but I think there are much better SS amps ...
Which would you choose for good sounding tube preamp for an audiophile new to tubes.
For well under $1500 the Elekit preamps are supposed to be very good.I have read comments about them being better than the Freya.
Tube Preamps that work well with SS amps?
Friends and I who are long term Supratek preamp users have found they work well with most SS power amps including Krell,Threshold,Accuphase,Rotel Michi,Dartzeel,Audio Flight,Nakamichi,Musical Fidelity,Naim and Pass Labs.

TJ Fullmusic 300B/n meshplates are excellent.Beautiful airy treble, lots of image depth and a lovely midrange. Not cheap any more though!
$20k(ish) tube preamps
A Supratek or a Don Sachs will compete with $20,000 retail preamps.Except they will cost a lot less because you can buy them direct from the makers and avoid large wholesale and retail mark ups.The Suprateks also come with a lifetime warranty.
Integrated tube amp with phono pre - need recco
Best to buy an old tube amp or receiver which usually came with good phono stages.
Enleum AMP23-R buyer beware!
Low 325,Those Deville speakers look very interesting.I wish more companies would make speakers with benign impedance and high sensitivity like that. My Bakoon works beautifully with vintage Tannoy Monitor Gold 15s .
How about Mac and Accuphase
You need to be aware that Accuphase refuses to offer warranty, service or parts for equipment not sourced through the national distributor. So if something goes wrong you would have to send it the country where it was first purchased. They are very ...
I finally purchased a new Integrated Amp
You should never buy an amplifier without hearing it with your speakers.Speaker/amplifier synergy is critical and relatively rare and should never be assumed.
Enleum AMP23-R buyer beware!
keithr, if the Enleum sounded 'somewhat not fully fleshed' my guess is it was not a good electrical match with your speakers. The Bakoon amplifiers behave more like tube amps electrically so they best suit genuine 8 ohm speakers not 4 ohm.
Accuphase E600 voltage conversion
People need to be aware that Accuphase only offers parts support and service for their products supplied through their local distributor. They make no exceptions.
Enleum AMP23-R buyer beware!
Why anybody would buy the Korean made Bakoons/Enleum rather than the Japanese made Bakoons is beyond me.They look fancier but the Japanese made ones are the genuine article and represent much better value.I am a happy owner of a Japanese made Bako...
Celestion Ditton 66’s. ‘Upgrade’ to modern speakers consequences?
I would look at upgrading your preamp to something like a Supratek.Your speakers and power amp are very good.A good modern tube preamp will really open the sound up and give a more 3D sound. That has been my experience with good vintage three ways ...
