Are Ohm Walsh Speakers the Poor Man's MBLs?
Mapman raises an interesting question on what other true omnis can do. I haven't heard the Duevel, but the Morrisons excel at imaging and soundstage. The new Model 11 has no cabinet artifacts.
Bi-amping Snell Speakers Anyone?
I suggest you use an active crossover, as you will need to bypass all the passive parts of your speakers. An overview of the concept is available here:http://sound.westhost.com/biamp-vs-passive.htm#2.2
TV to Receiver cables
Freddy50, are you using the internal speakers of the Sony? Just trying to understand why planning to connect the Marantz to the Sony, given that your sources are connected via HDMI.
Vizio 1080p for PC . Any good for movies too?
As long as your movie playback source can be connected via HDMI, you'll get a signal. How much fine-tuning/tweaking you can do on picture quality is another question.
Omni directional speakers
Pedrillo, could you explain what a semi-omni speaker is? I was not aware of the design. I thought a speaker was either omni-directional, or not...but not somewhere in between.
Omni directional speakers
Morrison Audio builds spectacular point-source omni directional speakers. Sold direct. Check out their site: Morrison Audio. I own the Model 7.
break in tips
Go to the source: ask the manufacturer. They know the drivers' characteristics. Many of them have been surveyed on this question and the answers differ only slightly - the common reply being no break-in by the buyer is required.
Gallos ohms mirages or deuvels
I own the Morrison Audio Model 7, and they are the real deal: imaging, soundstage, detail are all there. You can listen to music through them for hours. They are also "real-world" affordable...a bonus in these troubling times.
musicality and dynamics without enhancements
the term "musical" cannot refer to an audio component. an audio component is not an instrument. it is a reproducer, inaccurate though it may be".Exactly. These days, the term "musical" is applied to everything but the quality of the original recor...
Speakers that disappear
The Morrison Audio speakers disappear sonically. And with good reason: their design and implementation. Typical front-firing box speakers will struggle (and usually fail) to achieve the goal, but the Morrisons -- both the Model 7 and the Model 17 ...
Small and Excellent Speakers
I'm not sure what else you need to be told. The answer is...Yes!
Small and Excellent Speakers
Greg, check out the Morrison Audio Model 7 speakers. These small-footprint point-source omni-directional speakers are unlike the conventional box design. They image like crazy: they sonically "disappear", and there is no endless searching for the ...

Passive subwoofer...huh???
I also recommend the Reckhorn A-401 amplifier for your subwoofer. An excellent amp with many adjustments for fine-tuning. Details at http://www.reckhorn.com
wiring in series with a vertical bi-amp setup
Brad, your post was somewhat confusing, and I have reread it a number of times. Can you elaborate on why 2 pairs of speakers is beneficial to you, in a stereo (2-channel) setup.
