Anyone own the Yamaha A-S2000 - noob questions
Something doesn't sound right. The only thing I would agree with is the amp does get warm, but never hot. I've never heard a buzz or hum when powered on and the phono preamp sounds very good in my opinion. Your kef's are fairly efficient at 90db, ...
Yamaha AS2000 - balanced input
Thanks Swanny. The Yamaha AS2000 is fully balanced from input to output. It is actually a very impressive design and sounds amazing through the unbalanced inputs. I want to see if I can improve upon the sound by using the balanced inputs, but there...
Review: Yamaha A S-2000 Amplifier
I just picked up an A-S2000 and am enjoying it very much. However, the balanced inputs are not usable as Geared4me pointed out unless your source has an output voltage of 2.8 volts or so. The balanced outputs of my ps audio dac are too hot for the...
Need help with an amp for the Gallo 3.1s
Just get the gallo sub amp and use any integrated on your list or even the sp3 if you can cancel the sale. I could never get satisfying bass with the 3.1's until I dialed in the sub amp. I was using a wyred 4 sound stp and st500 to power them and ...
Best DAC for $500
A used Ps audio DLIII. Makes many dacs in this price range look like toys. Just look at the power supply and output stage and then listen to see if you like the sound of an upsampling dac. You can also choose between 96 or 192 upsampling which is ...
Am I going to regret the Gallo 3.1s?
I wanted to clarify that I'm referring to the mid bass impact that I felt was lacking in my room without the sub amp with the crossover turned up a little higher than recommended by gallo.
Am I going to regret the Gallo 3.1s?
I think the strada/sub combo is the way to go in your room if you're set on the gallos. I used to own 3.1's and the bass is tight and may play low, but the impact isn't there without the optional sub amp, IMHO. Sound stage is very wide though.BTW,...

Anthony Gallo sub amp?
Buying mcintosh ma 6600 what speakers?
I'm sure there are many speakers that would work well. I'd recommend finding speakers that you like first and then determine if the Mcintosh is a good fit for the speakers. Harbeth would be my recommendation if I had to make one, but like many oth...
Audio out mini-jack of Mac Mini to SPDIF DAC
YOu can get a toslink to coax converter like Dms1 mentioned, but I don't see how it could make a difference. In fact, the extra conversion could make things worse.Get a good glass mini toslink to toslink cable and call it a day. Or, a usb to spdif...
Best Stand for Harbeth 7ES-3 Compact
Not sure why the sound anchors would be cruel, chashas. They make many stands look like toys.
2 Channel Amp for Surrounds: Need Recommendations
Why not get a dedicated 2 channel amp for your front left and right speakers and power the rest of your setup with your mc7. I think that would do more good than biamping with a multi channel amp and sharing a power supply with all channels.
Need DAC suggestion
Yeah, I though the Bifrost was a joke at first because of the name and it sounded too good to be true for the money. Of course I'll have to wait and see how it sounds, but on paper it looks good. No upsampling and 24/192 usb support with no mac dr...
Need DAC suggestion
Check out the upcoming Schiit Bifrost. It handles native sample rates up to 24/192 through all inputs including usb and it's priced at $450. I preordered one and am anxious to see how it competes with my current dac.http://schiit.com/cart/index.ph...
DAC: Scott Nixon vs. Eastern Electric
Nice review. I think that pretty much sums it up for dacs. Pick your flavor, NOS, tube, solid state, upsampling, etc. It really comes down to personal preference and system synergy when it comes to choosing a dac.
