First thing, do NOT go out and spend a boatload on gear.  Start slowly and get to understand how streaming works and what you want it to do.  Consider Roon as there is a good community to help you get up to speed on how to use it.  Second, do not...
Aurender n200, talk me out of signing on the dotted line
Yeah, fix your sources. Tidal or Qobuz, recommend over Roon.
Help with XLR ICs.
This is a serious question, not intended as a flame:  can someone please explain to me, given the topology and function of balanced circuits, how any particular XLR cable composition can make a significant difference in sound, since whatever influ...
Kind of Blue
Mingus Mingus Mingus Mingus Mingus...
if you had this system, what would you do to make it sound the best you can
I suggest you need to establish your objectives.  Once you get above the kind of gear you can buy near the checkout line at Best Buy (/s), it's not really about general improvement...rather it is about a direction you feel you need to push your sy...
Qobuz vs. Tidal
I have both Qobuz and Tidal and listen primarily via Roon.  When mobile, I use Tidal alone rather than Qobuz or Roon's ARC.  I find the Tidal interface to be easier for mobile.  There shouldn't be a difference in SQ unless they are different mast...
Example of a piece o’ crap, useless review
I actually enjoyed reading it although I wouldn't call it a review.  TAS shouldn't have marked it as a review on the page.  More of a moment with newly available gear. Not particularly informative except in a home shopping network kind of way.  I...
This One has Me Stumped
Similar experience when my source component was overloading my preamp.  I suggest you try every source and see if it's consistent or just a single source. I suppose the preamp could also be overloading the EQ or your EQ settings are too high rela...
The Music Room
I've bought from them once and they seemed very professional. Unless you are selling used gear for gain (then please write a book about how to do that so we all can!), you shouldn't worry about 1099s from Paypal.  They are reporting revenue, not i...
A listening test of two power amps
The anti-testing and anti-measurement crowd certainly makes an impression. It's a good thing those folks aren't doctors or pharmacologists, or we wouldn't have gotten any further than "which medicine do I think makes me feel better..." [which, bac...
The Psychology of Constant (Equipment) Change
Just illustrates different personality types.  Some folks want to hone one system to its max -- perfectionists -- while others want to see what different combinations create -- explorers.  Neither is "right." My system is set up with swap bays so...
Ethernet cables
First, it’s important to point out that the OP asked for opinions, and that the ethernet cable believers do not have monopoly here. Many post in a civil manner and keep things respectful, but there are a a few that do not -- you know who you are -...
Dog pissed on speaker
Actually the suggestion of taking the driver out and putting it outside in sunlight is not bad, it would help break down the urine, albeit it might also help break down the cone. Ozone generator similar idea but it's an open question about how goo...
New Network Acoustics Tempus switch
PSA:  Just a balancing comment that many network engineers and others who understand packet based communications believe that these network enhancing devices do not have any effect on sound quality. And if there is any "dirt" in a signal there ar...
Effect of Internet Service Quality on Streaming?
Unless you are hearing dropouts, it's definitely not your Internet connection. I suggest building a dome around your house so you can control light, air pressure, and humidity.  Then your only remaining variable is your mood.  There may be ways t...
