Tricky Room Geometry Question
Thanks foll all the responses. I had never heard of Lyngdorf, and it looks very promising. I will keep my eye on used equipment to see if one of them turns up, and in the meantime play with the speaker placement. Shame the Lyngdorfs are so rare!
Manley Stingray question
:) Thanks, I am thinking about how to manage it. 9 month olds are pretty amazing in what they can get into, though, I can't imagine what happens when he learns to walk! Thanks for all the replies.

For punk, you could add the Misfits to the list. Astro Zombies is a terrific song. This is punk, keep in mind.
VPI 16.5 Problem
I found the following on Audio Asylum (thanks to Cjnolan), and followed it except for the loctite suggestion, as I didn't have any. I will do that later. It worked, and I am back in business. Thanks, all!--Remove the center cork piece. I use a ver...
New to Classical Music - Album to try first??
I asked something remarkably similar a couple of weeks back, but I asked for ten pieces of music. Someone recommended a book you can get on Amazon (or anywhere else), called The NPR Guide to Building a Classical CD Collection. It lists 350 major w...

VPI 16.5 Problem
Thanks very much, that is encouraging. I tightened the plastic nut as much as I dared, so I will try Bikerduud's suggestion. Is there any trick to taking off the platter? Does it unscrew or just slide off? Thanks again.
10 Great Classical LP's
Catching up here--for other newcomers to the world of classical, I have found the NPR book to be extremely useful (though my wife has laughed at me for buying something by NPR, which she loves, and I do not). I have picked up a few recordings ment...
Very beginner question re: interconnects
Thanks for all the information. I am using an MC cartridge (also just purchased, Lyra Dorian).
Newbie Question: High Output v. Low Output
Thanks very much. I am looking at the scout/scoutmaster budget levels, though have not settled on any particular brand or table. Maybe around $2K, but would be surprised to end up spending a bit more then that on the table and tonearm if I thought...
Good $2k Used Speakers for 20wpc tube amp
Thanks for all the ideas, much appreciated! You have given me a lot to read and think about. Always a trick, not being able to listen to most of the speakers in question. I am particularly intrigued by the Zu Druids. Regardless, I will let you kno...
Good $2k Used Speakers for 20wpc tube amp
Thanks for asking, I should have included: 12 feet wide by rougly 30 feet long, with a staircase that bisects the room. Cathedral cielings, about 12 feet high at highest point. Not ideally shaped, but what can you do? Pretty broad music tastes, mo...
Beginner's questions re: amps, sorry a bit long
To respond to one of the above, I ended up picking up a Manley Labs Stingray. So far, terrific--I am very happy with it. Bought it here on Audiogon, which was also a very positive experience. Now, of course, I want new speakers...
