Modifying Crossovers
I think the seductive part about upgrading crossovers (not modifying the network) is that those of us who have done it have heard substantial improvements. I am of the opinion that I can more easily hear improvement in sound by upgrading parts in...
Audio Research filing for bankruptcy?
Whoops, my big mistake--this is not Chapter 7 or Chapter 11 but receivership.   But with a list of creditors like that attached to the filing, Bankruptcy could be imminent.   What a sad moment in hifi.
Audio Research filing for bankruptcy?
Will ARC warranties be discharged in a Chapter 11 Bankruptcy?  If so, my thought that buying super well made Chi-Fi products only came with the risk that warranties wouldn't be honored could apply to ARC or other American blue bloods.  Oh my.   I...
Is it time that Klipsch Heritage marketing a subwoofer?
@bigburban ,  you are correct!  Wow. That system is pretty cute and good looking.  But, not what we were looking for specifically.    @mcslipp , HAAAAAAA!
Thinking about another amplifier (Galion)
Veerosi,  I have a very similar amp to yours. My 805 amp is reportedly built in the same factory as yours.    while I haven’t heard the Galion, I’m very familiar with Doge (the manufacturer) and Primaluna (your previous amp).    Do you like the...
Help me upgrade my beginner system!
OP, you have a very nice beginner system.  Shoot, that is a worthy system of more than just beginners.  Because you have such a decent system, I would do what others say above and just go right to the speakers. I'd upgrade the loudspeakers first ...
Considering A 20-40 Watt Stereo SET Amp
Thanks @jjss49 !   I should note that the Willsenton is a Chinese made amp. It is reportedly made in the same factory as line magnetic. The product is very similar. They also reportedly have service centers here that can work on it, but I have n...
Considering A 20-40 Watt Stereo SET Amp
@stereo5  At $3k, I highly recommend the Willsenton R800i. It’s 45w SET.  To get this power it has a massive transformer and weighs a ton. It has 3 inputs, remote, VU meters —not to mention it sounds lovely and robust.
speaker cables under 1k for Harbeth 30.2XD?
@boostedis , Agreed. I’m not saying cables don’t sound different. But I’ve cut open and have seen several cut open/disassembled cables and it’s hard to justify some of the prices charged. I changed bananas to spades on a set of Analysis Plus cabl...
Is it time that Klipsch Heritage marketing a subwoofer?
I think the point would be a <$1k sub generically designed isn't as attractive to someone shelling out $6k, $12k, $25k for the upper end of Heritage speakers. I'm talking about a sub designed to compliment the Heritage line specifically. Certai...
So I bought the Willsenton R-800i
I'm going to open mine up soon.  It has to be done.
Western Electric 12AX7 coming this summer.
So curious as to cost.  Will folks pay $300 for a 12ax7?
Tubes or Solid State?
I would trust Stereophile over Audio Science Review.  If you are not familiar with ASR, please note--they do not listen to gear. Listening--their argument runs--is subjective--and subjectivity tells us nothing.  If you listen to ASR, you are buyin...
Subwoofer Choice
I have two REL T9is.  I think they are particularly musical, well built and a great value. I’ve tried other stuff but kept coming back to REL.  I do wish REL had an APP but I get their reasoning for not going that route.
Tubes or Solid State?
Oh, and I had some wonderful sessions driving SS amps with the Freya.
