What are you using for ripping CDs? What media player do you use?
I rip to uncompressed FLAC directly from the built in disc drive in my Antipodes DX; insert the CD and everything from there is automatic. Prior to that, like many others, I was using dBpoweramp for ripping. I still use it to convert audio file fo...
Electronics for Harbeth, Especially Monitor 40 series
@redwineaudio I experimented a bit this weekend with this config; it worked really well with my SHL5+. The depth of sound stage and the presence of the performers is really amazing. I also have three Argent Roomlens (one in between the speakers, a...
Electronics for Harbeth, Especially Monitor 40 series
@redwineaudio Hi Vinnie, how much toe-in do you have with your 40.1s in the configuration discussed above? Also, a LIO with DHT linestage sounds really interesting. I've owned one of your RWA 30.2 amps, I really enjoyed it. Jason
Music Server
@escritorjuan Hi Juan, great review. I currently have an L7 and thought your review of that device was spot on. I’m considering an upgrade to the Big 7, have you heard one in your system? Once you experience a great dedicated music server it’s rea...
Pass INT-150 or Bryston b135 sst^2?
I've got a pair of SHL5 + (great speakers) and have heard them with the Pass INT 150. For my personal musical tastes it was a very nice pairing, which I'd gladly use in my system. I've also owned LSA Statement and Musical Fidelity m6 500i amps, bo...
Lampizator Atlantic?
Has anyone heard both the Big 7 and Atlantic? I’d be interested in hearing a comparison between the two DACs.
Music Server
I’ve had computer music servers (Mac mini, NAS, Audirvana) and purpose-built music servers with internal music storage (Aurender N100H and Antipodes DX Gen 2). From my personal experience, I can say that both the Aurender and the Antipodes are con...
Has anyone tried these stunning new CPT power cord?
I've also jumped on the Equi=Core bandwagon and was really surprised by the improvement over more expensive cables--and right out of the box, too. I'm looking forward to seeing how they break in. Mark - thank you for being so helpful and respondin...
SET 45 Amp Driving Dynamic Speakers
I'd read a lot about 45-based amps requiring very efficient speakers (over 100dB), but I've run 45 amps by Korneff, Burgess and Yamamoto with Vaughn Triode speakers (97dB) with great success. My room is 21'x19', I generally don't listen to very lo...
aurender n10 or....?
Also, I forgot to add that the Antipodes has an optical drive so you can rip your CDs direct to the internal solid state drive.
aurender n10 or....?
You should also consider the Antipodes DX (the newest Roon ready version) with the AES/EBU option. Late last year I upgraded from a Mac Mini to an Aurender N100H, that was a huge leap forward in sound quality. I really like the Aurender Conductor ...
Where do you guys buy tubes?
I typically buy vintage NOS tubes from Brent Jessee, service and quality are top notch. Www.audiotubes.com
Help...hum issue with new preamp
Thank you, I appreciate the feedback. I'm currently having a new Cabernet Dual built with 300B tubes. I'm definitely looking forward to hearing it in my system.
Help...hum issue with new preamp
@barfbag How do you like the Cabernet as compared to the Calypso?
Music Servers-Why so few?
I agree with lalitik, at $2700 the Aurender N100 is a steal; it was significant upgrade over my previous Mac Mini/Audirvana/NAS solution. The Aurender app is incredibly well thought out, the integration with Tidal is really nice too.
