Applications of USB 3.0 in Music Storage.
USB 2.0 has enough through-put to handle 24 bit / 192 kHz files, it's just that many implementations are lacking, which cause the max data through-put to decrease significantly. The M2tech Hi-face is a USB to S/PDIF device, and it handles stereo f...
ESI Audio Dr. DAC nano - USB to S/PDIF interface
Cmalak - thanks again for all your input. Indeed, I would like to continue to use my existing DAC, because I really like the synergy that my components have and I don't want to go changing anything. It seems like there are fewer choices here than ...
ESI Audio Dr. DAC nano - USB to S/PDIF interface
Cmalak,Thanks for the continued suggestions. While both of those are a little more than my initial budget, the $100 is more of a "soft" limit, and I could go a little higher if absolutely necessary. However, both the Trends Audio USB converter and ...
ESI Audio Dr. DAC nano - USB to S/PDIF interface
Thank you for your response. One other consideration for me is cost. I am aware of the Bel Canto USB Link, and I'm sure it does the job very well. However, I think it's overpriced (i.e. it costs more than I want to spend on a USB S/PDIF interface)....

24bit wave to CD?
DVd-Audio authoring is not required. Two channel 24bit linear pcm is permittable in the DVD_Video spec.while the DVD-Video spec allows for 24 bit LPCM, it must be sampled at either 48 kHz or 96 kHz. The DVD-Audio specification allows for 24 bit LP...

Dreadhead - in addition to the Grand Pecking Order released by Oysterhead, many legal, live recordings are freely available. While the sound quality isn't as nice as the album version, the live shows are great as well. If you use bit torrent, many...
XLR Pin Vocabulary
Kusina - as "Atmasphere" stated, the only result of using gear with different pin assignments (inverting/non-inverting pins switched) is that the signal will end up being inverted, or reverse polarity. You could have a custom set of interconnects ...
Sony DAT "hesitates"

Which CD/DVD players/transports output 24/96?
my Denon DVD-2200 will output a full 24/96 S/PDIF signal. It is my understanding that other Denon units will do the same.
How is more than 16 bits better for CD?
interesting thread here.while sampling rate and bit depth are techincally "unrelated", you would want to have a great bit depth when changing sampling rates. you might want to upsample the 44.1 kHz data on CD's to 96 kHz to get the required filter...
Word clock frequencies- why??
well, SACD's are an entirely different ballgame. SACD using a digital encoded called DSD (direct-stream-digital), while CD's, DVD's and most other digital audio file are encoded with PCM (pulse-code-modulation). CD's are 16-bit and DVD's are 24-bi...
Word clock frequencies- why??
not all music is recorded at the same sampling rate.CD's are 44.1 kHz (44100 sample per second).DVD-Video discs are either 48 kHz or 96 kHz.DVD-Audio discs can be sampled at many values between 44.1 kHz and 192 kHz (44.1, 48. 88.2., 96, 176.4, or ...

Half the information on CDs is analogue
Jason, I've often wondered how to go about making some really fine recordings for my firends and myself. Do you know any resources on the web for amateur recording. I know that Manley makes a nice 8 channel Tube mixing board and I've noticed that ...
