I see the issue with ABX blind testing
Back in the late 70’s Audioquest made such an A/B box available for its dealers to evaluate interconnects. I tried it out! As the French chef said about his margarine compared to butter "No diffawrance!" Wonder why Audioquest soon withdrew its A/B...
I see the issue with ABX blind testing
I bet the use of an A/B switch box would embarrass the claims made by all of these cable companies!
I see the issue with ABX blind testing
An A/B switch box is needed to evaluate those power cords. The hand switching delay makes comparison difficult because aural memory is so fleeting! Like the human eye watching fireworks. By the time a switch is made the aural memory is gone!
FAKE NEWS - NEGATIVE REVIEWS NOT ALLOWED!!
@tony1954 I had a subscription to The Audio Critic from its beginning in 1976. Near the end it was taking limited paid advertising. It failed because it couldn't raise enough money from subs and limited advertising. There were also several other a...
The receiver was my intro to HiFi! What say you?
Speakers came several months later: a store-demo pair of Infinity Monitor 1A's with Walsh tweeters for $450 (list price $900). Then an Empire 698 TT/MicroAcoustics 2002E cartridge from Stereo Discounters in Maryland for approximately $400. All thi...

Marantz 2270 bought at Rabson's on 57th Street, NYC for $389 in 1976 along with a pair of Koss Pro4AA phones ($40). Speakers came later!

Two sane responses! I have the PLX 1000 with a Denon 103R mc cartridge. It doesn't sound excessively bright!
Halcro update
@larryi : If the Phase Linear sounded so bad why was it a commercial success? I have a nicely restored one in my collection - maybe I should take it out for a test?
Halcro update
I remember the Stereophile 2002 review of the Halcro dm58. It cost about half as much as this new version (€47,900). These Halcro amps certainly look 21st - or 22nd - Century!
Audio Research D75 to Infinity Kappa 9 high pass - which ohm terminals?
Your surge protector is safe to use with the D75. That warning applies to a switch box with a common ground. Which you don't have. BTW I have an ARC D75 with KT120 tubes - good amp!
Best 3A5 / DCC90 / CV808 tubes?
There are plenty of 3A5's available on Ebay. Some are in boxes and presumably new. Prices are low! You could buy and try a bunch!
A GOOD dry record cleaning device
Back in the late 70's my friend Les swore that the Pix Off was the best dry record cleaning device. The Pix Off was a sticky roller on a handle that one would apply to a stationary record's surface. Anybody else ever heard of this?
Best 3A5 / DCC90 / CV808 tubes?
It's a double triode tube. There are plenty available cheap on eBay right now.
