Cost no Object but Small Room
I remember seeing some of Alon Wolf's designs sold on here several years ago. I wondered who he was, and now he has the hottest speaker on the market...funny how things turn out.

Jim:I remember starting out down the path of a serious CD player, Metronome was always at the top of my short list, but at the time, no one in my area even heard of it.I have to remained focused here, speakers in small rooms is what I'm really cur...

Henry, that's interesting you heard them with ARC gear. Do you remember the configuration of the system? Was it all ARC?I was curious about the CJ line as well, they make high powered monoblocks recently reviewed in HiFi+.I wonder what a pair of t...
SET amp with solid state preamp
Have a look at the Lamm line of gear, they're top line pre is solid state (with tube power supply) and works tremendously with the 18 watt monoblocks.

The V3 was setup to a pure Zanden system, the 90 watt monoblock push-pull 845 amps, the preamp, and the transport/dac signature combo. I did not check the wires, but I did notice the Nordost speaker wire. They were in a large room about 8 feet up ...

Henry,I had a chance to listen to the Magico Mini and the V3 today in completely different systems. The Mini is a tremendous speaker, you definitely have the power, and should go hear these asap. :) Very nice 2 way indeed. The V3 will give you low...

I have them setup in a 12' x 12' listening area in a room that is 12' x 24' and they sound great. My setup has them wider than expected considering how close I sit.Trade-offs, that's what speakers are all about right? Here is how I would describe ...

Good point, tubes or solid state would be a personal preference. I was told (but I cannot confirm) that you couldn't do better with a large coax driver in a large box for a small room. I have personally never heard such a speaker, but I was curiou...

Hey guys, these speakers are getting very expensive very quickly? What about looking into some older approaches to spakers such as the Stonehenge series from Iconic Speakers? I was thinking of trying to hear a pair of these:http://www.iconicspkrs....
LammLP2 vs. Arc PH_7
Rcprince, Thank you for sharing your experience. I thought about it a bit, and considering my record collection isn't very large, I went ahead with a Denon 103 R cartridge. I figure when my record collection gets serious, then I'll move into a nic...
LammLP2 vs. Arc PH_7
Rcprince, I'm actually in the market for a new cartridge. I have the Lamm LP2-d and started with a Denon 103. It's time for a new cartridge, my initial thought was the Shelter 901. Have you had any experience with this cartridge? Any others with t...
Lamm, Cary and Parsifal Encore - what combo?
i have no expierience with the ll2 directly, however i have owned an Emotive Poeta before my current Lamm L1 preamp, and it was good riddence to the Poeta pre. The bass was out of whack in timing and presentation, but the mids and highs were good....
Cable Costs Relative to System
I use to think that cables were an afterthought, but as my system developed over time, wires became the weakest link by far. I have since adjusted my outlook towards cables, I would consider cables to be a primary component, like an amp or preamp.
Attn Vinyl lovers - what CD Player do you use?
My digital front end consists of a 47 labs Flatfish mk2 -> Apogee Digital BigBen (clock) -> Zanden 5000 mk3 dac. All is connected using Siltech G6 Golden Ridge digital wire.I have no desire to look for a new digital front end. For Redbook CD...
Berning ZH270 vs 845 SET amp
I owned a ZH270 for about 3 years. I thought it to be a tremendous amp for the money - second hand. It probably is the most flexible amp I've come across; having a switchable 2 input with volume pot allows you to use it as an integrated amp. This ...
