Pass X150.5 or Odyssey Stratos monos?
I have been following this thread from the start.  As the OP stated, only two options were to be considered: Pass and Odyssey.  But there actually is a logical third option: Symphonic Line (SL).  Have a look at the link below and I will explain fu...
Any VTL experts in here?
"Better" or "Best" is what I try to avoid. Why not call VTL and see what they might be able to share on the pros/cons of the S vs. MB models, in a general manner, but also for your speakers. I have the the Amati Futura and these need serious curre...
Component recommendations for Wilson Audio Alexx
DCS is the best for digital front end. Boulder or Ayre for electronics, or AR if you want tubes.Any reference as best is of no value and such a claim is either a sales pitch or personal preference. There are far too many product lines out there fo...
New Parasound Halo JC1+ monoblocks just released!!!
A great design does not guarantee a great implementation. The JC1’s were the only thing to to drive and make the Wilson Alexia’s sing beside the Gryphon AntillionWithout sharing the other amplifiers included in this evaluation to the resultant gold...
Considering going back to Solid State
Interesting thread.  I can understand why people might switch to SS to get away from the added effort and maintenance of tubes.  But I will be very interested as to what SS preamps can "replace" a top-performing tube preamp in what it does best, t...
New Parasound Halo JC1+ monoblocks just released!!!
I don't own a Class D amplifier and haven't compared any to Gryphon amplifiers. I listened to the original JC1s years ago and the Parasound JC5 recently, both sound okay. Same.  And "okay" is generous.
Monoblock power amps same dedicated outlet?
The only place to get your answer is from your Pass dealer or Pass engineering team. Be prepared for them to tell you that a single 20A circuit will limit the performance here. I have a pair of CAT JL-3 amps and there is no way a single 20A circui...
Tidal Music
Great thread.  Much valuable information here!
Lumin X1 latest Review like we have been saying
For those of us who continue to play digital through a simple/conventional means, i.e., through a CD player or use a PC for music files, occasionally a streaming service, e.g., Spotify, is there still a means for such a setup to compete with all t...

FWIW, WC, the most celebrated and unbiased reviewer on Agon I don't know if I would get so carried away here.  We all have our biases.  And I don't think anybody contributes here to be celebrated.  There are a number of A'gon members who have cont...
Vimberg Speakers
If you guys like the sound of Accuton drivers, another company that uses these is Estelon.  I heard these some years back at the So Cal Audio show and was mightily impressed.  I think it was the model XB on demo.  But the XA and models up the line...
Need insight on these amps
Outstanding advice on the big BAT amps.  They are a pain to deal with due to size and mass, but wow, what a great product.  Keep your eyes out for the 600 stereo amp.  I am wanting one of these myself and pass on the 600 mono amps I have.  Simply ...
BAT VK 53SE vs ARC Ref 5SE
@zkidd +10    I could not have said it better!
Why is the Audio Research SP8 so highly regarded?
I found the original cold, sterile and perhaps lean. Wow! Never heard this one before!!!! Nothing can be further from the truth! Sterile is 90% of today’s line and phono stages that can not even begin to give the listener any hint of the portrayal...
SIMPLY AMAZING: Coda Technologies 07x Preamplifier
Did teajay mention his original reference tube line stage here?  If so, I missed it.  And why hide or feel shame to list the actual tube line stages that were "outperformed" by the Coda with the big, WOW?From my own experience with going through m...
