192 khz/24 bit Albums on Qobuz
@redheads the Node2i does output 192 through optical, i’m listening to it at the moment. Outputting to my Cambridge DacMagic+I found that you need a decent Tos-link cable that has the bandwidth to transmit 24/192. Some cheap ones don’t have the ne...
speakers or room???
I have the XT8 speakers as well, also fed by some Primaluna gear. I listen to a lot of jazz piano (as I type this actually) and have not had any issues with any midrange spike. I actually used a mic and REW software to do some room measurements an...

Shake the disease - Depeche Mode
I need a good looking and good sounding speaker ....
Check out the Tannoy XT8F. Got them in white and was surprised at how awesome they look. Not to mention how they sound for the price...
Surge protector vs wall debate for amps
Just got the new Audioquest Niagara 1200 with a couple of high current outlets for amps. Not enough time with it to be 100% sure, but I would say it was an improvement SQ wise, and a piece of mind with the protection.
Hunt for new floor standers
You shouldn’t overlook the Tannoy XT8F. Not a lot of dealers and therefore harder to audition, but totally in love with mine. Really punch above their weight. In the mid $2k new. Some respected audio reviewer I can’t remember heard them and though...
What other Hobbies or Interests Do You Have?
The correlation factor between high-end audio and Porsche's seems to be strong with this group! Definitely cars for me as well (1965 Mustang convertible in the garage). Wine and food are probably a close second to audio. If I could find a way to w...
Separates or Integrated? What makes more sense?
Primaluna’s latest offering is surprisingly good for integrated in the $4k to $5k range. There is no magic in spending $10k versus some other sum...Quick example: friend has massive system, in the $250k to $300k range (think Focal Grand Utopia). I...
Pure Class A SS vs Tube Amp
@mozartfan I have an EVO300 integrated, currently with stock tubes. But not for long :-)
Pure Class A SS vs Tube Amp
No one has mentioned Primaluna yet. Any reason they wouldn’t be a good fit for the OP?really enjoying mine at the moment...
You could work for any manufacturer, past or present...
@erik_squires i was thinking of JM Lab as well. I visited the factory once as I was working with them on some novel membrane technology with them. I built my first speakers using a Focal kit. I now work a mile from Krell and wonder what the crazy ...
Smaller PrimaLuna Integrated Owners...
Just recently purchased the EVO 300 and paired them with the Tannoy XT8F. It’s been a few weeks and the whole system is still breaking in, but so far VERY happy with this combo. The 91bd sensitivity pairs well with the PL and I’m glad I didn’t go ...
Which combination of components (Streamer, DAC, Preamp, Amp, etc.) are most future-proof?
So I was in your same situation recently, getting back into the game after having the same components for 10ish years. I spent a decent amount on a tube integrated. Primaluna EVO 300. I like the idea of being able to roll tubes in the future (futu...
DAC repair/troubleshooting in New England
Hum is definitely there with no inputs connected. I usually use the optical.
DAC repair/troubleshooting in New England
It does not have a USB input, just optical, coax and balanced. The hum does sound like a 60hz ground loop, or at least I think it does.
