Singer Songwriters Rarely Mentioned By Audiophiles
Don’t see Tift Merritt or Kasey Chambers getting mentioned a lot, but should. With her first release (Bramble Rose) I best described Tift as a premature reincarnation of Emmylou Harris.
what happens if you record a type I cassette on type II setting, and vice versa?
Non-linear higher frequency response, distortion, tonal imbalance … how much and how discernible probably depends … play with it and see WRT your equipment and ears.
Stacking Components
Heat is an enemy of all your internals. It looks nice, but I always separate and ventilate components.
What Integrated Amp do You use
Plinius 8200MkII … having Ralph totally refresh it … probably my end game, though I must admit a big McIntosh could tempt me if $ were no or minor issue. Hard to justify 4+ times the cost for what I think is only modest improvement (though aesthet...
Original Legacy Studio Speakers
@rfnoise not sure if you’ve already completed your decision process … re your last question … yes, you probably can expect some caps can have drifted some out of spec (but probably more at risk in those much more than 20 years … I have some speake...
Do any of you kids , want your system ???
Wife will take all the Beatles, Buffett, and Louis Armstrong recordings, if only to preserve for the music she wants at HER funeral. 😁Daughter not interested at this stage with 3 young children. A bit more with SIL. I hope as the house calms down ...
Need some advise please on a 30 year old system
Sadly, most of us aging audiophiles face the same ending ... our kids just really don’t want all this stuff we’ve accumulated. I’ve got a huge collection to dispose over the next few years rather than saddle my daughter with it.
All Things Must Pass 50th Anniversary sets due to be announced tomorrow
I did buy the Sgt. Peppers, bought Cd version and won the vinyl version of White Album, but passed on Let It Be. Now we are into the Beatles respective solo careers ... did get one of the recent Lennon Imagine versions ... @yyzsantabarbara at this...
All Things Must Pass 50th Anniversary sets due to be announced tomorrow
Been a lot of “50th” releases over the past few years ... damn we are getting OLD 😢My (original) looks well-worn ... will be interested in the SQ reports of the remix/remaster ...
Help with turntable setup?
Phew ... @cheeg you just about gave me a heart attack myself ... thanks MC! ... Peter one of those really good guys ... was following his posts and glad he’s been recovering ...
To horn or not to horn
@isochronism ... I had components for 3 of essentially those (dual 1226 topped with 2446 CD’s with 2385 horns. (The offer cabinet and the drivers/horns came separately with no x-over (was going to use miniDSP’s). This was to be for the front stage...
Separate Amp for AV receiver
I’ve had at least ten receivers over the years, and find very modest to minimal gains from ‘upgrading’ or changing receivers themselves (WRT SQ, changing for features understandable). I did however get more noticeable improvements adding an outboa...
Has anyone done this with a Bluesound Vault?
Haven’t done it yet, but will be at some point (just 10% into ripping my CD’s ... isn’t this a function of re-indexing the library?
Old favorites that you still play and still "feel".
Love berner99’s inclusion of Renaissance ... Live at Carnegie Hall is great, and Annie Haslam is vastly under appreciated. In semi-heavy rotation here (or at least put a smile on my face):Southside Johnny ‘Hearts of Stone’Santana ‘Moonflower’Holly ...
Honest question about cartridge vs. turntable performance.
I meant to say “Unless” rather than “So” in the first sentence of last paragraph.
