various amps / and pre's with Soliloquy
Thanks, I've heard of people being very happy with the single ended amps but I don't know much about them. How do they differ from something like the Marsh A400?
HDTV Widescreen recommendations, please
These are experiences/opinions. They are confined to the more popular HD-capable RPTVs.It depends on a few things. Whatever RPTV you buy, it needs an ISF calibration, preferably with a Sencore machine to get the best picture. This is not always ti...
Help with new speakers
I thought I was the only military pilot / audio nut in the world! I fly AH-64 Apache attack helicopters for the Army, hence the name "gunbunny".So far, my hearing is still pretty good. Of course, I haven't done it for 20+ years.
Need Advice on Downsizing :-
I'm no expert on audio yet, but assuming your not making monthly payments... keep everything that your happy with. They're is a saying about cars, but it may apply to audio as well... "the cheapest one you'll ever have, is the one you already got"...
Soliloquy bad for HT?
I returned the C3. Later, I checked back with the dealer. He said it was a bad tweeter.
Audio Refinement Pre-5 or other?
Rogue 66 or 99..... yea that's a good question. Whatever I buy it will probably be used unless I get too impatient. If do buy new, it won't be the 99. Right now, I'm leaning towards a 66 Magnum. My local dealer recommends the 66 Mag ($1500)over th...
pre-amp and amp for 1K
right now I'm thinking of finding a used Rogue pre-amp and matching it with a good amp a few months down the road. I called Rogue and they said could add a HT-passthrough for $100. Also said alot of people had matched thier pre-amps with Odyssey a...
pre-amp and amp for 1K
I would love to get the Rogue, heard a 88 magnum with a McCormack amp hooked up to the same speakers I have. That's what sold me on the speakers. However, with a Ski Trip and a wedding comming up, I would rather buy used. I'll spend $1500 or a lit...
pre-amp and amp for 1K
does the Rogue Audio 66 or 88 have a processer loop or HT bypass?
Need suggestions for speakers, processor and amp
yes, the 5.0's are rear ported. I think the Sat5 would work great in the 17.5 x 20ft room, but I'm not sure about the larger room unless you put them on stands closer to your seating position. Regardless, in the larger room the 5.0 would work bett...
Need suggestions for speakers, processor and amp
I agree that cabinets are not ideal places for speakers, and while I always don't agree with Natalie... I've never heard speakers in the ceiling that were as good as well placed monitors. There are many good monitors for HT and some are great for m...
I can't believe there is no difference
Right now, that's exactly where I stand. Not buying it. While I don't neccessarily believe that that the Cambridge is not any better than my DVD player... I think an amp or pre-amp upgrade is bumping the CD player on my priority list.
Soliloquy bad for HT?
checked the settings (speaker size and delay)and messed with them for a good 30 min. I know what your saying about what I'm used to, but I don't think it's my "untrained" ear. I have never heard a TV sound better than any center channel either, ti...
pre-amp and amp for 1K
Thanks, I think the route I would like to take would be the one Mezmo just talked about. As far as seperates or integrated I haven't made up my mind. Probably depend on what deal I run across. I've been thinking of a tube pre-amp and a SS power am...
