Wilson Wat Puppy 7 or Avalon Opus Ceramique?
Keep in mind that you guys are recommending large and outgoing speakers with big room requirements when we don't even know the size of this room.
Wilson Wat Puppy 7 or Avalon Opus Ceramique?
Hi Mike,How big is the room?I like Dynaudio monitors (Special 25 and C1) but they need to be cranked a bit to really open up, and they like a nice, big room. So I don't think I'd recommend them for your situation...Maybe a nice pair of Sonus Faber...
Wilson Wat Puppy 7 or Avalon Opus Ceramique?
I wouldn't buy such a capable speaker if you can't turn them up loud. The whole point of getting big speakers like these is to enjoy their macro-dynamic capabilities.Go with some nice monitors and save a ton of money. Wait until you have a house t...
Saw the Stereophile review of the B&W 800 Diamond
Budt says:"I would say the 802D would score a 6 and the 800 Diamonds a 9"My question for Bud, is why would you buy a ~$15k speaker that only is a '6'? :-)Most of the rest of the comments seem to be saying that they are all in all pretty similar sp...
So, what DON'T you spend money on?
I spend money on about everything mentioned in this thread... Why the hell not, we're only on this planet once! Might as well enjoy it. Though like Feil, I don't lose money on finance charges! Except the car loan on the Audi S - gotta sacrifice va...
Good turntable needed, need recomendations.
Definitely buy new from a local dealer - the setup help will be valuable. Honestly, Basis is a great recommendation. Ultimately they are a very solid product for the price, very quality engineering. I'm not as familiar with the Vector arm, but I'm...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Downunder says:"I am quite impressed with the Denon DL-S1 given its cheap entry point of 500-600 odd bucks."Where can I buy a DL-S1 for $500-$600 dollars?
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Has anyone heard the Empire 2000Z cartridge? I came upon a NOS one and I'm wondering what the consensus is, if any. Thanks.
Would this room work?
Trying to get that room to sound good will make you go crazy. Sound is going to be 'meh' at best - the 13' dimension is too small and those sloped ceilings will create a nightmare. If you want to have better than average sound, keep looking. Or bu...
dynuaudio c-1s in a small 10x12 room?/amppower?
Bad, bad idea. The C1s need a lot of room to breathe and for the drivers to integrate. Even a 14 x 16 or so room is too small for them. They are a bold sounding speaker and need power (important) and lots of room (more important). The suggestion to...
Integrated for Gallo 3.1
Those bass drivers are 4 ohms, and as such like a nice high current SS amp. I'd look into something with 150WPC or more that doubles into 4 ohms.
HELP Rega P-7; VPI Classic 2; Scout 2 or ?
I'd pick the P7 as the RB700 is a significantly better arm than the VPI 9 IMHO
Amps for Maxx 2's
I think he's messing with us
Any better spkrs than Era D4's for computer audio?
The D4s are not really made for really nearfield listening. I tried putting mine on my computer desk and it didn't sound right. What you want are the DS4.5. They have a similar tonal balance, but are designed to be listening to super nearfield. I u...
RCM recommendations
I like the Nitty Gritty... I have the 1.5FI, has auto fluid application which the VPI 16.5 does not
