Passive attenuator impedance question
I just received IRC 0.1% 1/4 Watt resistors. Went with double the resistence: 2K and 9K. Will try to put together the attenuator over the weekend and report my findings.
Passive attenuator impedance question
Wow thats a lot of responses! Thank you!Just to clarify, I do not wish to use a variable (stepped) attenuator. Currently I am using between 20dB to 35dB of digital attenuation in the DAC. All I want is to introduce fixed passive attenuation of 20d...
D-Sonic, Wyred4Sound or NewClear Monoblocks?
I got the same advice from the folks at W4S. Unless you need the power of the SX-1000's the mAMPs are a better choice due to overall refinements in sound quality. The mAMPs are based on a newer ICE module. On a slight tangential note: If you have a...
Wyred4Sound Dac-2 vs Preamp and separate DAC
My experience has been very similar to Agb100's. I compared the W4S DAC-2 direct to a pair of W4S mAMPs vs. with a W4S STP-SE preamp in between. I strongly prefer the direct mode - it sounds cleaner, more transparent and punchier. The STP-SE is an...
W4S SX-500 vs. new mAmp?
Smholl, I think you posted the same question in audioasylum, so I'll repeat my response here:I auditioned my friend's SX-500s in my system. I loved them so much I got ready to order them. I was recommended the the mAMPs instead. The mAMPs are supp...
Wyred 4 Sound STP SE and ST-1000
I tried my friend's W4S STP-SE Preamp and SX-500 mono blocks combo in my system and was amazed (they replaced a Cullen Stage IV PS Audio Trio C-100). The STP-SE is a very transparent preamp with a hint of tube like color. Their W4S amps are amazin...
