What is the average dealer mark up?
big_greg...I do not know how you did it.  But you found a way to disagree with me by essentially agreeing with what I said.  I forgot one word to add to the list. Which was a given.
What is the average dealer mark up?
The dealer mark up is his building lease...his family needs.... his food... his clothing... his transportation.    You know.  What you want to save your money for.

Is it all worth it?
I once owned an expensive, state of the art, turntable.  I owned several very good ones before I got my Merrill Heirloom and Grado Signature tonearm. I also used to be a TT repairman for the BSR company back in the day.  Turntables did not intimid...

Time to buy a class D amp?
I used to have the pleasure of owning a McIntosh MC275.  That was when I used to sell audio.  At that time I also got to hear some rare Luxman tube amps...  And,  a friend's refurbished Dynaco  ST70.Yes...  tubes have their benefits.   But, I no l...
High value, giant killer speakers?
On the other hand... There are "giant killer" desktop speakers. Near field as well. If you can find a used pair of Cambridge Audio S30’s? Cheap.. Giant killers! Phase coherent and excellent sounding speaker.   Excellent sound always trumps impress...
Great musicians who should have been famous except....
I will call him "George." Fantastic guitarist I played with in the 60’s. He could literally sound like Hendrix and Clapton. Why is he not famous today? Arrogance and conceit. I will just call him "George Unworthy."
Bookshelf Bake Off
Mark,Your question can not be answered, because only you can discover the answer by trying speakers for yourself. One speaker great in one system may not work in yours. Find an online retailer that has a thirty day return policy. Too many variable...
