Looking for input on record clamps.
Hi, the Shun Mook clamp has since gone up in price. It lists for approx $2800 IIRC and there is a waiting period to get these. He only makes a certain number of pieces per year.Is it worth the money? It's up to you. Turntables can cost $100,000 an...
Looking for input on record clamps.
Hi Siddh, Albert is right on the money. I find many clamps suck and damp the life out of the LP. SOmetimes playing without a clamp sounds better. Try lightly tightening the clamp instead on screwing ot right down and the sound changes. Do not over...
Dynavector XV-1S impressions?
Ecka, I own both the XV1s and the Audio Note IO2v. Yes, your description of the sound is spot on. The Audio Note has a much deeper soundstage but not as wide as the XV1s. Comparing the AN and the XV, the XV is definitely a brighter and more detail...
Tracking error distortion audibility
Thanks! I finally found one. Just wanted to make sure before I take the plunge.TIA
Tracking error distortion audibility
Dertonarm, you and syntax were saying about the Dennessen soundtraktor for alignment. Was wondering if it is the same one as the one listed on audiogon with only 1 grid???? Does it have 1 or 2 grids?TIA
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Thanks Guys. You have been great help. Yes my MF-100 is in nice shape with box etc. Listening to it on my SP10 mk2/EPA100. Yes, @1.25g, I can see that it is a very high compliance cartridge. Just got the MF-400 and using it on a Denon DP-59L track...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Hi Raul, can you tell me more about the astatic cartridges? I recently picked up an Astatic MF-100 and the MF-400. Can you tell me the differences between them? TIA
Tubes in the preamp's power supply -how important?
Yes, agree with the above posters. They make a big difference. Try the NOS varieties and go fro there. All sound different and one will suite your system best.
Top line phono stages with at least 2 inputs
Lewm, I had all (OWNED) three units. All three are very nice sounding. I have compared them to other top flight phono stages and prefer even the small H1200 to them all. Since you asked about the diff between the H1500 and the H3000, here is my an...
Top line phono stages with at least 2 inputs
Allnic Audio H-1500 and the H-3000. $5600 and $10,900 respectively. Both has 4 inputs. 2MM and 2 MC
Phono Stage Preamp-Rotel vs NAD
Rotel by a big margin....
Cheap SS phonostage
I had a Rotel 970 hooked up in MM to a stepup tranny and prefered it to my ex ARC PH3se. Go figure it out. It's a solidly built piece. You'll be very surprised what you find uder the hood. Lots of Black Gate caps and a Tamura power tranny inside.P...
The best phono stage out there?
Hi, My other cartridge on the second arm is the Audio Note IO2v stright into a Kondo AN-s9s tranny then into the Allnic H-3000. Works great. My other cartridge is a XV1s fed into an Expressive Tech SU1 which also works well with the Allnic. The All...
The best phono stage out there?
Don't know about the best but the Allnic H-3000 phono stage is hard to beat and I really mean it...that's if you like transformers. Check 'em out here on audiogon. The H-1500 is also a fine piece for the $$. I used to own the H1500 and just receiv...
Base for Verdier La Platine
I second the Vibraplane ( I have one too) although Minus-K makes a platform that is said to be better than the vibraplane.
