Please Critique my Setup and Recommend Upgrade(s)
As others have said, and I concur, you could do with better speakers(first) and better amp/pre(second).My 2 cents( and +1 kenny):Start by going to as many dealers as possible and listen and learn what you like. Don't confine your listening to mode...
Best Tubed Preamp For A Warm, Rich Sound, Yet Still Detailed and Agile
Atma-Sphere MP-3, would be my recommendation. Even better if paired with Atma amps.I never knew sound could be reproduced so cleanly and transparently.B
Requesting Advice on Speaker Upgrade
I agree, leotis, it took my Omen Bookshelf more than 2 weeks to break in, but, when they did, I was very happy.@leotis,Thanks for the comparison between brands. I never heard the Tekton's, so I always wanted to know how they compared with the Zu's...
Mccormack DNA 0.5 schematic/service manual
First, look at the fuses. There are fuses inside for each channel. See if they are blown.Second, call SMC audio in California, they will give you all the info you need and will be able to repair the amp should it need it.760.908.5263 B
New Two Zone System - I'm out of my League
For me, I would drop Sirius/XM and get a Spotify premium account. The sound quality is much, much better, and the music selection is just as complete. B
Wife trouble
@joshelston,Great post.Music should be appreciated by all. Your daughters will have a good background in music, as well as good sound reproduction.B
Add a Subwoofer to my Vandersteen 1ce s or replace with Revel Concerta2 F36
Me, too!
Helps me with long term system development.
As a Vandy fanboy, I would second donvito's recommendation, but I want to respect jbhul's current speaker before making any future updates speaker-wise.B
New Two Zone System - I'm out of my League
Perhaps a Bluesound Node for each room, if you get the integrated for the kitchen, connected wirelessly, would allow you to stream music to both rooms.I use it for my office (2nd floor) and living room (1st floor). It works perfectly. And, it does...
CDP Repair or Replace? Seeking advice Please
Why not get a dedicated DAC if you have the Sony?If so, I would get an Ayre Codex or a Schiit Gungnir or Yggy. They can accomodate the Sony as well as stream Tidal from (I assume) your PC.Bob
Tube Preamp Recommendations?
How about an Atma-Sphere UV-1, used.?
Integrated vs Separates, New vs Used - Rogue Audio, Simaudio, McIntosh??? Input Needed!
@2channel8, yes, the Belles is a great integrated. You are definitely doing the right thing.Though it looks like you could save a bit by buying used (about $600). But, getting a warranty is sometimes worth the extra money.B
ProAc comparison
If I remember correctly, the ProAc's I demoed were using Asthetics Atlas. They were mighty fine.B
Helps me with long term system development.
If you like your speakers, then I would keep them. B&W are nice speakers. In my opinion, I would upgrade the preamp, then amp, first.
Streaming Tidal - What hardware is out there beyond the Bluesound
@nycjlee,I hope those Vandies are keeping you happy. And +1 for the Ayre Codex, when I stopped by Audioconnection, Johnny played music through the Bluesound Vault and the Codex. It was so impressive, I bought a used on here on Agon.B
