From pro to hi-fi and a little confused...
I second the comment about looking at Klipsch & Tannoy. The only component you would need to add if you use a passive speaker, would be an amp. No pre-amp, or receiver would be needed, as a matter of fact, you would most likely be able to save...
Amplifiers:A Keeper for Life. Do you know of one ?
I'm not giving up my Spectral DMA50 any time soon, and I'm always on the look out for another as spare or for bridging.I've had a Luxman M12 since new, and it's not going anywhere either. I just got a pair of B12s (mono versions of the 12), and if...
Old vs. New
I think it depends on the component. For my money, speakers have not "improved" in the last 20 years or so. I'll hold my KEF 107/2s, or Quad ESL 63s against anything I've heard under $10k since their introductions. However some components have imp...
Speakers for a large vaulted room?
I have two listening rooms in upstairs rooms (in my home & cottage), but neither is as large as yours. Never the less, I've never had much luck using panels of any kind in those rooms. I just don't think dipoles lend themselves to angled side ...
Personal speaker evolution
Somewhere in the mix, I've had Magnepans; SMGa, MGII,& Tympani 1D. A couple of Vandersteens; 2ci& 3s too... I'm surprised they slipped my mind, I've always liked Maggies & Vandersteens, guess age is catching up! It's fun to try and loo...

Kef 107 vs 107/2
I've had 107/2s since the early nineties (replaced my AR9s). I think the differences between the 107 & 107/2 is mostly attributable the KUBEs each use. I listened to both versions when I was shopping (the dealer had older ones still in stock),...
Speakers to hang on to for LIFE
I've had (and still have) many speaker systems over the last 30+ years, and only my KEF 107s, and Quad ESL63s have stayed consistently in service. Actually, the KEFs replaced my old AR9s, the 9s are now being used by my brother... I couldn't let t...
