Anyone using the analog inputs from the processor?
"Yes I prefer analog outs from the dvd player to an analog multi-channel preamp, then to a multi channel amp, instead of a avr processor/amp.Think the idea is if you have a good dvd player you can use it's dac processor straight to a dedicated amp...
Aerial CC-3 vs. Revel C-32 Center Channel
My recommendation is you find 3 NHT M5 monitors, mount them on the wall, AND FORGET ABOUT IT! Then you can have your Legacy's still setup for 2 channel, and have high rez, very clear and dynamic sounding HT system, separate from your music system ...
Receiver vs. processer?
Many many 2 channel stereo system owners come to this junction. You do have options, yes. And yet, you might want to maximize your options - but it depends on you variables. What speakers are you using? Can you get a matching center? If not, I stro...
Aerial CC-3 vs. Revel C-32 Center Channel
For sure, NO PROFESSIONAL AUDIO/VIDEOPHILE IN THIS BUSINESS would ever do what you're trying to do! - cause they know better = incase it matters to you. This subject has been talked about at least a 1000 times on this forum alone over the years (re...
Suggestions for an affordable pre/pro
what do you mean, what's the question on the Soundstage? It's a nice enough unit. Good resolution and details, good body and refinement (much more detail than the classe SSp25...much less digital sounding than Lexicon stuff) But it was not quite a...
Suggestions for an affordable pre/pro
Hum. Don't know why the last post posted 2x's. Oh well.Actually (and I've owned the Act 3,Upgraded Act 3, Aragon Soundstage, Krell HTS 5.1, Macintosh MX130 THX, Classe SSP25, and others), even though I've had and experienced "more refined" pre'pro...
Upgrade B&K Ref 20 to Proceed AVP?
nice thing about these is you can buy one, and sell if y ou don't like! I mean it's not like you're risking anything, and had to buy it new at some store with no return policy -which is nice (lol). Also, don't know your system pieces to match thin...
Suggestions for an affordable pre/pro
Yeah, from what you're saying, I'm gunna agree with the Acurus Act 3 choice. I've owned 4 of these over the years (don't ask why I sold em...it's complicated -lol). I've also had Macintosh pieces, Aragon Soundstage, "updraded" Act 3, Sony's 9ES pr...
Small AV room setups now better than big rooms???
Again, to re-affirm, I think I'm mostly considering these specific points, related to performance:1. Projectors have limited light output for perspectively large screens needed for larger spaces, and further seating distances (thus, in a large 300...
Marantz SR3001 enough?
IMO, not really. You're not going to expect anything spectacular, in terms of real sound quality, until you pick up an outboard amp to go with those speakers! This is fact. The modest receiver IS NOT going to offer you any sort of "mind bogglingly...
What is the best speaker for a smallish room?
hummmm - sounds interesting. Do let us know what you think of the speakers, and if you can get them sounding good in your room/system! The reviews sound promising.I'm very interested in simple crossover, high efficiency speakers. And, when you com...
has anybody heard Martinlogan w/ MIT?
Actually, believe it or not, the top end Monster speaker wires are the ticket with the Logans! Dont' know why, but the Transparent, MIT, Harmonic Tech, Acoustic, etc, Ocos, etc, didn't sound anywhere near as well (for some strange reason) on thee ...
Help me build a system
lol. Surely you must go through the post here on the Gon entitled "best speakers you ever heard!" (lol). Perhaps your pair is in that post!?Otherwise, you're gunna have to try something, and compare!! Remember, EVERYONE ends up with different gear...
has anybody heard Martinlogan w/ MIT?
I think objective1 and sleepysurf are more on target here. I would FIRST learn how to setup up ONE SPEAKER AT A TIME in balance with your listening seat - then do the other! You really need to know if your fundamental basic setup is sound, or you ...
Two-level / back row seating in a home theater
Actually, a lot depends on where you have the monitor (pj screen) mounted. If it's higher on the wall, you can get away with a lower back riser. If your monitor is down near the ground, or lower, you will need to build a higher riser.See Russ Hers...
